I believe Ennis had to sign a pact of sorts with Al Haymon for it to be possible for him to get this fight. Haymon has shown that he’s not willing to do anybody any favors unless it’s benefits him and with his WWs aging he’s looking to the future.
Why May? What's the hold up? It's not like either of these guys are big money players where they need months on end to hype it.
Eye test says Ennis is a threat to everybody at 147 ... His last opponent had actual terror in his eyes, like he was fighting early prime Tyson or something. Lipinets is a tough guy who won't roll over though, this will be a good one.
Word on the street he wants to co main event him with a PBC star to get him in front of a solid audience.
Agreed. Sergey could even win it. When did he become a stepping stone because that's the treatment he is getting from the comments I'm reading? Guy has 1 loss and a Draw, it's not like he is in boring fights or something.
Lipinets is a rugged dude, but that's about it. He looked very average and beatable against that Custio dude (can't even remember his last name). If Ennis is even half of what people think he's gonna be, he'll stop Lipinets.
I have this small amount of doubt in Ennis. Granted he is still developing, it will be interesting to see how this one goes.
He hasn’t looked great at 140... They should put him in with Ugas or Josesito to see how he fares against a B level welter first but hey, hats off to him for taking a 50/50 fight that people actually want to see. I’m sure PBC/Haymon will compensate and/or make sure he gets a title shot at some point, as they basically run the division... maybe that’s part of the deal. Lilpinets can beat Ennis because he can jab and counter... but his defense has to be on point, especially to the body.
