1) I still say he beats AJ 2) at least he has a resume with title defenses which is more than some of the other supposed top HWs can say
Oh i know, hes too old to get better. Im just speaking on how good he would be if he possesed world class boxing skills, he's a trash boxer but his power alone puts him in arguably the top 10. But he took up boxing late. If he had such skills i reckon he'd be nearly unstoppable
He gets knocked out by AJ. If you’re gonna have **** poor defence against AJ at least have a granite chin which Wilder has the furthest thing from. AJ hurts him and gets him out of there quickly inside 4 I reckon. You’re right at least he has title defences but they were handpicked opponents who were fed to him by the WBC. Never should have been fighting those guys.
dude threw his bombs like if your smashing all the buttons on a controller. Earnie Shavers had nuclear power in both hand but didn't know how to use it, that's why 80% of the fights shown in different highlight reel ended in his loss.
I dont know who can be number 3 besides Wilder. If Joshua fights Wilder twice the score will likely be 1-1
All you ever do is hype up whoever Joshua beat and diminish Fury's wins so this thread is about as predictable as possible. Wilder is a good fighter, he has a decent resume, not the best, but certainly one of the best in this shite heavyweight division. Ortiz, Stiverne, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Breazeale and Scott are all good to decent wins to have (although I think Scott flopped in their fight), but then again I don't place a ton of credence in beating guys who aren't the best of their eras and only good contenders at best. Ortiz and Stiverne were both top 10 so they definitely count for something, the rest fall in the top 20, so they're alright but they could've been replaced by better opposition. I also can't blame Wilder for Povetkin and Wawrzyk both popping before fighting him, their faults for screwing it up. His main issue is that he has been managed shockingly by absolute grifters who held him back from achieving more, he absolutely could have iced a few of the top guys, probably still can. People just didn't want to risk their cashcow as is the norm nowadays in boxing. Regardless, he is certainly top 3. Can't place an ancient Povetkin or even less skilled than Wilder Whyte there.
Wilder knows how to set up his right hand, he's a lot sneakier than you'd think. In fact a lot of his game is underrated simply because it's ungainly looking much like Joe Joyce. Wilder doesn't actually move badly for example, it's incredibly unorthodox and sometimes inadvisable but he does seem to have a natural swiftness of foot. He also has good reflexes for pulling away from shots and frames using his long ass arms very well to smother his opponent's offence. Thing is he met a guy in Fury who knew how to neutralise these skills and the means to do so and Wilder had nothing else to fall back on. Shavers was a pure clubber, not as intelligent a boxer as Wilder who although way too one dimensional has really sharpened up on that dimension he has. He's the quintissential sniper in boxing.
I think there's some merit to this. He still might be #3 after Fury and AJ, but that's an IF. Surely he needs to face some top contenders and stop living off the Fury loss, or his string of defenses against the worst HW contenders in the history of the HW division.
AJ was not ready to go to war when Andy Ruiz got up, in the Rematch he was able to outbox the Shorter Andy Ruiz Deontay Wilder frame and speed make him impossible to avoid for 12 rounds...Anthony Joshua will have to try to KO Deontay Wilder right away or get KOed running away, he will not be able to take breathers like the taller Tyson Fury did using his frame-range advantage. Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua series has the potential to be the best Heavyweight action packed fights, will always end in KO, Hearn will have to save those for the end of Anthony Joshua career, the perfect cash out
Disagree. AJ has the skills to box circles around DW. We've seen multiple times DW needed his hail mary to bail him out. Hail mary KO's don't always come, and after his bludgeoning from Fury, who knows how he'll be IF he returns.
Will the winner of Whyte-Povetkin be the new WBC mandatory? Or does he have to face Wilder next? What will Wilder have to do to become the mandatory? Anyhow, if the winner of AJ-Fury doesn't relinquish all the belts, it might be a while before the turn comes to the WBC mandatory, no? Usyk will be first in line probably. And Fury seems unlikely to honor the WBC mandatory in either case if it would be Wilder.
You mean the Hail Mary was Deontay Wilder only plan, he got outboxed by everybody. Tyson Fury was able to survive the first fight by miracle, if he knew its possible to outbox Wilder for 12 rounds he will not take the risk of going on all out attack vs Deontay Wilder in the rematch. Anthony Joshua is an inferior boxer compared to Fury, mainly due to the smaller frame, so his only chance is to storm the citadel and hope to KO Deontay Wilder before Wilder KOs him.
