The danger of the Canelo Fight (from Ward POV), is that it pits him versus Floyd Mayweather ATG proxy

Even if Ward scores a SD win, Floyd comes on top. All this while Floyd is relaxing...

If Ward takes on Canelo or Joshua, suddenly he's going to have a fanbase. We're going to overlook his unbearable self-righteousness and fouls and weird love affair with Kellerman.

Imagine if Ward, who was very hard to hit at SMW/LHW, could avoid Joshua's far slower HW punches for 12 rounds and land enough scoring shots of his own to win on points. Ruiz still landed his short reach shots due to hand speed and Ward has faster hands.
The fight would have a Fury-Wilder I feel, everybody waiting for Joshua to land and finish the fight.
But what if Ward evades for 12 rounds and does land jabs and combinations?
How will Joshua fans ever show their face at a poster signing again?
