    What if Floyd never retired after the Berto fight, what would have happened in the following years at welter? I feel Bud would have dethroned Floyd at some stage or Floyd would have ducked him.

    He pulled out at the right time. Next on the list could have been Porter or Thurman and I think in 2016 Mayweather could have largely lost to them.

    Floyd avoided the younger guys for a reason. He could have really cashed in on a Broner fight but he kept his promise to Haymon to cash out Berto and went on to do showcase fights. People were calling for him to fight middleweights way before the Pac fight. He knew those PPVs were gonna start tanking.

    Same thing that would have happened to every other fighter in history if they hadn't retired when they did.

    He'd have gotten older, slower,weaker and been beaten up by someone 15 years younger than him.

    Its a weird question.

    What would have happened if Joe Calzaghe hadn't retired?
    What would have happened if Lewis hadn't retired?

    People retire. Not everyone needs to go on until their a mangled mess.

    Mayweather looked far better in his fight v Berto than Lewis did v Vitali.

    Floyd "retired" several times didnt he.Every time he though he may be forced to fight Williams, Margarito or Tyzu. He still isnt retired for sure he's still a boil on the butt of boxing he's still fighting Japanese teenagers or someone with an 0-1 record plus an MMA fighter making his pro boxing debut ROFLMAO The most laughable part is you fan boys are buying the Bull ****

    Floyd’s too skilled a matchmaker and had too many connections. He would have fought against some recognized “name” opponents that were more outside their primes than the ones he already faced and won a few more boring UD’s.

    Did he, or was he just fighting a guy who was less of a challenge?

    Vitali was maybe the next best HW in the world at the time.

    Berto was maybe top 10.

    I thought the logical next fight for Floyd, and one I didnt understand he never made, was against Danny Garcia. Would have been a decent sized fight at the time against a former 140lber (Floyd likes those smaller welters) and one who he matches up well with stylistically even at 40.

    Never understood why he never pulled that card for a relatively 'easy'ish high profile win.
