If you feel a pick by the champion will be wrong, post your pick, and announce that you want to challenge for the title! Rules: - First come first serve on challenges issued - No stacking of challenges - Can not challenge a fight more than 7 days away - If champions change their pick after challenge has been set, they forfeit their title and it goes to the challenger who then becomes the interim champion, to fight for the vacant title against the next challenger - Only 1 challenge per day, although a champion can have unlimited defenses per day - Anyone who loses or forfeits a title fight, must wait until 3 challenges occur before they can challenge again. If no one has challenged the champion, ANYONE IN THE TOP 20 OF THE LEAGUE RANKINGS (even those who have lost/forfeit/participated in the past 3 title fights) can challenge the day of the fight they are challenging (12AM EST) - The champion should try to place their picks as soon as they can, to give the field enough time to challenge their picks. Regarding the standings, are losses (incorrect picks), more damaging than not picking a given fight. In essence, is it smarter to not pick the absolute toss up fights? And no disrespect intended, I really appreciate all the work put into this.
If three people were 5-0 lets say... And there is a pickem tossup fight. If one person wins, one loses, and one doesn't pick because its a toss up... they would end the weekend looking like this 6 - 0 5 - 0 5 - 1 So the people that pick the fight correctly will go ahead of him obviously and the one that took an L will fall behind. But over time this method of not picking the tossups can backfire in the rankings... as any ties go to the person that picked more fights. So if he keeps doing that, its likely tge rankings of those three wind up like this 9-0 7-2 (guy picking toss ups and took 2 losses) 5-0 (guy not picking the toss ups) Not sure if that helped. If it didn't let me know I can try to clarify it better. There are many years in which I dont avoid toss ups per say but I only pick on the fights that I dont have to research... so only on the mainstream fights, usually has me placing around 15th to 20 or so because doing that eventually has you falling behind because people that pick the toss ups start outpacing you due to volume. But many years Im not playing to win Im playing just to see for myself what my record is in mainstream fights because I dont have time to research fights usually. But if someone is playing to genuinely win the competition and be the annual champion, like I will try to this year, it will cost you long term usually if you make it a habit of not picking toss ups. ... Keep in mind I will likely be creating a sibling league to this where we only pick on the more mainstream matches. Will make it here in a week or so and link it here in the thread for any interested.
Im still chipping away at all time rankings gang. No I havent given up or forgotten They just take me awhile because I have to do it in bits.
