    Its just marketing. He’s adopted an arrogant persona to sell fights. I hate it but you can’t argue with the results. For a guy with limited talent, he puts people in the seats or PPV. Best salesman in the game.

    It's not all marketing , the guy is a tosser.
    He should have been jailed for punching that old guy in the pub who was sitting on a bar stool not even looking at him.
    If he had done that to my Father, i would have ran the rat over and done time for him.

    I agree with your explanation, but it still is a theory. It seems very true, but we dont know it until it takes place.

    Take a look what a past prime Francois Botha did in K-1. Yes, K-1 is only stand up, no ground fighting etc., but it is still very different to Boxing.

    Even if i say he did not really beat K-1 legend Peter Aerts (Peter injured his leg by kicking him, he was always vunerable to injuries in his later years), he gave top guys like Jerome le Banner or Remy Bonjasky all what they could handle.
    I still feel Botha was leading 2-0 rounds vs Bonjasky before he got knocked down at the end of round 3, so it should have been a 29-29 draw, but the japanese judges, who liked Remy very much, gave him the victory.

    Of course this does not mean Botha would have beaten a prime Semmy Schilt (imo he would have get desroyed by Schilt´s kicks and knee), but he was good enough to gave two legends (Le Banner, Bonjasky) a damn competitive fight. He also had 2 great fights with Cyril Abidi.
    The only guy who destroyed him was heavy samoan puncher MIghty Mo.

    My point is: It has been proven by the show fight science, that a punch with Boxing or MMA glove takes much of the power of the punch.
    I give you some numbers of Bas Rutten:
    Boxing glove -> 641 lb (291 kg)
    MMA glove -> 651 lb (295 kg)
    Bare hand -> 776 lb (392 kg)

    Yes, Boxing gloves are still more devastating for the brain. But still the real power to hurt someone with maximal force is more in a bare hand/fist.

    So it would be very nice to see what happens if a prime AJ for example fights with bare hands in the Octagon vs a MMA HW Champ.
    It could be enough to take him out with one clean shot, maybe.

    I would put all my money on the MMA champ...but before it doesnt take place (Boxing Champ in his prime vs MMA Champ in his prime in MMA fight) its all theory.
