Not a matter of a mood. Your post was sarcastic and so was my response. You have very few posts here and a tiny track record so when you have an attitude that’s often either an alt playing games or a nonentity. That’s all.
You just wrote it. Jeffries won through size and strength. So did George. What’s not to get ? I have no interest getting into one of the endless Jeffries merits leading a Johnson thread. No biggie.
Your too precious for my liking, with a condescending tone to your voice, will not be engaging with you anymore. keep well.
I don't think there was a huge difference between him and his championship level competition. Foreman was bigger, but not vastly bigger than Frazier. To put this into perspective, Ali weighed in at 215 for the FOTC against Frazier (205.5). Foreman trimmed down to 217.5 (to Frazier's 214). In terms of length of frame, there isn't a massive difference between Foreman and Ali. Yet, Frazier found the faster Ali, time and time again. Sure, Foreman fought smaller opponents, but didn't Jack Johnson and Joe Louis? In the modern era, have there not been weight disparities comparable to those of the early 20th century? Indeed, hasn't a wide variance in size between heavyweights been always present, throughout history? The differences between Foreman and Jeffries, as far as I can tell is that the latter was fighting for the Championship with a 40lb weight advantage and generally wearing his man down. Foreman had less of an advantage against a higher caliber of opponent and was absolutely destroying his opposition. So, as previously intimated, I think Foreman learned to harness his physicality more effectively than did Jeffries. Foreman, despite appearances, was the more technically proficient (probably by some margin) and quite clinical in his delivery.
Nor have I ,and I never mentioned Johnson ,who has no place in this debate. My stance is Foreman has a very facile resemblance to Jeffries and it appears those that have posted on this thread agree with me. From the information available to us. Foreman fought 8 men heavier than himself. Two men the same weight.Fifteen with 17lbs of his weight. Foreman fought 63 men over 200lbs.Twenty over 190lbs Jeffries fought nobody heavier than himself, nobody the same weight and several 40/50lbs lighter. Jeffries fought just four men of 200lbs or over .Three of 190lbs or over Jeffries also fought several men 12/20 years older than himself. That's not his fault ,it just indicates the paucity of the available opposition. The point is Jeffries in large part outweighed his opponents by huge margins and apart from a couple of isolated occasions never faced what we now consider to be heavyweights. Foreman faced 63 ,nearly 3 times as many as Jeffries career record. Were they both big and strong? Yes, but Jeffries had huge physical and age advantages over most of his major foes and that is not the case with Foreman. Jeff's major wins; Sharkey20lbs and 27lbs weight advantage. Fitz 39lbs and 47lbs advantage. Corbett 30lbs and 27lbs advantage. Foremans wins over Frazier saw him with a3.5lbs advantage in the 1st fight, andFrazier was the heavier man in the 2nd. Foreman had 6 lbs on Lyle, and12lbs on Norton. Foreman is a top all time puncher and Jeffries ,whilst a solid banger isnt. That's the bottom line, and your statement that I don't get your opinion is incorrect,I get it, I just don't agree with it, and neither does anyone else who has responded. Now let's move on.
Was it you that told me he was a fine poster ( just kidding ) no bias, but there is no counter argument. keep well.
Dude, I know you forever, I'm a fan but know you love going on and on with these things forever and I don;'t ... to me my point is simple ... similarities , both men won through superior strength ands size and power over their opposition and they did , period .. I am not drawing any other conclusion and I couldn't;'t care less about who agrees with you .. I stand by this .. Foreman and Jeffries , each in their own time, were the powerhouses of their time and used their size and strength to dominant where overpack of polish simply did not exist. That's my point and it's correct .. Never went further that that .. and you never rub me the wrong way .. I have total respect for your knowledge and personally like you.
All good points except on Foreman not being much bigger than Frazier .. I think Johnson showed a lot more than size and power vs Burns and Ketchel ... I think Louis showed a lot more game of the same against Conn ..
If I am incorrect and you are not a troll I apologize ... no reason to let disputes here get silly ..
I hope so .. If I came across a bit heavy handed I apologize as I have long liked and respected you and still do.
