Good fight, I’d lean towards Ruddock as he was quicker and had the better chin, but still a dangerous fight for him
Bruno. Ruddock went down against every puncher he faced, and Bruno was probably the biggest hitter out there.
Tbh, while Ruddock was quicker, I'm not sold on him having a better chin. He was starched out by Lewis (whereas Bruno was outboxing Lewis & took his shots better until he was stopped on his feet in the mid rounds) & stopped by a chinny, shot to bits Morrison. He was also stopped by David Jaco in 1 round early in his career. Do you think Bruno (even 95-96) Bruno would be stopped by Jaco? The only time Ruddock showed he had a good chin was against Tyson surprisingly.
Im assuming it the peak ruddock of 1988-1991 that guy stops bruno around 8 rounds...Its a close cagey affair .ruddock actually outjabs bruno towards the end than finishes similar to the dokes battle
They probably have similar chins, Ruddock did take smith’s and Tyson’s shots better than Bruno did. Ruddock was also past it when he was stopped by Morrison, but if Bruno ate that same hook, he probably would’ve been stopped himself. If I had to say who had the better chin, I’d lean towards Ruddock
Huh, "tommytheduke" is indicating that Bruno hit harder?! I think they, Bonecrusher, Tua, Ruddock +Ye Olde Foreman were all about at the same level.
Personally I believe Tyson hit harder than Bruno. They had nineteen rounds of back and forth and both left the ring with less than they walked into it with. I honestly think Ruddock had a great chin until he decided the best strategy was to trade shots with Tyson. After that I completely agree with you. Ruddock and Tyson both stated they felt like left pieces of themselves in the ring after their two bouts. Lewis could starch most people and if I recall Bruno was more cautious than Ruddock. Ruddock became a head hunter after Dokes, which is a shame.
I lean towards Ruddock here. Bruno had a nice hard jab which would trouble Ruddock at times, and heavy hands. He would stun or maybe even drop Ruddock at some point. I think Ruddock shakes it off, and when he hurts Bruno in return, Frank wouldn’t be able to withstand it. Bruno had that thing where he it didn’t take a lot of shots to hurt him, but once he got hurt, it was difficult to drop him. He didn’t have the wherewithall to take a knee, and as a result, he would be out of it whilst still on his feet. Ruddock lands his Smash, Bruno stumbles back to the ropes, and Ruddock unleashes an onslaught to win it. Ruddock TKO 7
I’d lean towards Ruddock but not enough to place a bet. Excellent fight though. Fans would be excited
