Ruddock did look on his way down in that round. But this wasn't exactly the same, 90s Ruddock. This Ruddock actually moved, knew how to clinch and (GASP!) jab. One wonders what would have happened had Ruddock continued to use this seemingly disparate style against Tyson, Lewis...

I found the difference in RR's styles striking.

I think Big George comes through with a KO. Both would get hit, but I think George could take Ruddock's punch better than the other way around.

Razor has a crystal clear video of the Dokes fight on his youtube channel.

In essence this was more or less the first fight where RR gave up the mobile fluid boxing style and started seriously shunning the right hand. Though in fairness this man had like 5 versions of the left hook to compensate

Its amusing the commentary..... the very knowledgable seer Gil Clancy...a man you could listen to all day long so calm and relaxing is his voice...is by his standards moaning about how Razor is fighting the wrong fight....he comments razor has it all as a boxing specimin and has a tremendous physique but he ought to not be standing still on the inside and that his punches arent affecting dokes and the fight is even......Im thinking different RR's jab ....yes jab is visibly softening up Dokes face and snapping his neck back...a dispirited look is emerging on Dokes face......Gil than says " Razor is just fighting the wrong fight" and boom...a sudden jab, left hook, right hand, SMASH combination pulverises Dokes to oblivion.......Clancy, ever full of integrity, starts screaming this is the greatest HW prospect he has seen in many years.... Its a funny example of commentators curse.

But the fact is in the 1980s and in this very early 90s fight RR was a good HW boxer...he had a good jab...as shown in the dokes fight....and in that 1986 sparring video with Larry Holmes........after the dokes fight and tyson wars he more or less became a grotesque characature...the free swinging, on the canvas laughing big guy......and his boxing IQ went downhill fast to the point now on these forums the 1980s ruddock is forgotten and we, me in particular , refer to his tremendously poor boxing IQ as evidenced in the lewis, morrison and page fights.

Hey hold on, full stop here. I’m the one that told you he wasn’t “knocked out on his feet” to again use your words. But John came in and backed me up, it’s cool I don’t post enough these days to probably be paid much attention to by you younger posters. I’m just happy you saw that I wasn’t just blowing smoke. He wasn’t as you originally said “knocked out on his feet”

    Way to go John lol.

Yeah, ik. I just said it 2 JohnThomas cuz he was also talking 2 me, moreso at that point.
I don't have a problem with you not posting much though. That's cool with me. I'm not gonna disregard you for it even if I do disagree with you.
Well, I didn't think you were "blowing smoke" as you say, I just figured that either you hadn't seen the fight recently, or that you were a younger, more narrow-minded fan that just wanted to disagree with me for the heck of it (remember, I don't know you that well, so I kind of thought of you this way at first). Well, I found out I was wrong on two accounts: not only was I wrong about you, but the day that I said the statement to JohnThomas that you quoted, I went back and watched Weaver-Ruddock round 4 and found that it was my view of the staggering that was partially flawed.

    Btw, I'm from MO too.

Wow, that’s a tiny little town, google says 1,500 in Dixon. Small world. My town isn’t large by any means either about 50,000 but the town right next to us Jackson has about 20,000 so they’re basically like one town, still small vs a Big City but everything you’d ever need.

Yeah, it is a small town. I used to live in a place called Crocker that only had 1,000 people. There's just a lot of small towns around where I live.
