Steward knows Lewis better than any of us ... And he knows Tyson was extremely dangerous to Lewis even at this stage of his career.

Lewis is an ATG who is at the upper half of the list of H2H heavyweights ... But he didn't have the best chin. Steward knew that as well. If Tyson ever hit Lewis with the right hand he hit, let's say, Botha with ... Lewis isn't getting up from that. If Ray Mercer can give Lewis hell with Steward in his corner and Lewis being in his prime then a prime Tyson who is much more aggressive and elusive is going to get within striking range and get his punches in.

Yeah, I know. But Lewis was past the stage of really throwing that right, fully committing with it, like when he KO'd Ruddock. The older Lewis was better than the younger, but partly by virtue of playing it safer, rather than totally committing to the KO punch.

But yes, Mike could take a shot. Took a lot to put him down. I still picked him to win in their primes.

I think the Tyson of Thomas, Briggs, Holmes would have beaten Lewis ... it was his speed ... he was so fast .. Lewis had the mental strength always but Tyson was devastating in that window of time ..

Curiosity question: why do people's picks change when the careers of Tyson and Lewis have been over for a while?

It's a fight ... Anything can happen ... Especially when both are ATG

I suppose because over time we hear differing arguments which may sway our opinions one way or the other. Sometimes it’s also a matter of periodically going back and reviewing their better or worse performances at various points in their careers. I think this particular match is pretty hard to decide. Both had some emphatic moments in their respective primes

Even if i go with Tyson as the winner, there is one point ppl should think about:

Watch the fight Tyson vs Tucker.
Of course Tony boxed to survive and not for winning, but this was the prime Tyson and he couldnt KO him.

    Is Lewis worser then Tucker?

    For sure not!

They are both 6´5´´(196cm) tall but that s all. Lewis beats him in almost any department.

But i would still put my money Tyson wins.

Lennox is more idolized by casuals ? Its the complete opposite. Prime Mike Tyson is legit the closet thing to an invincible fighter in terms of public perception. People even now Praise Mike Tyson 10 times more than they do Lewis.

"Nobody beats a Prime Mike Tyson" is all i hear from casuals.
The fight is 50/50 if both are on there best day imo

Lewis would’ve always beaten him, he was so much smarter stronger physically and mentally and would’ve neutralised what Tyson does by letting Tyson burn himself out first 1 or 2 rounds then when Tyson’s feet slow down start to hit him with that dynamic jab at will and would keep setting up and keep landing the right hand, lean on Tyson push him off and break him down and KO him, Tyson didn’t have the full package mentally when it comes to a boxer, he definitely had a fighters mentality no doubt, but a boxer has to be able to overcome adversity and Tyson couldn’t do that, he mentally crumbled, even he he did keep a cool head, I don’t see Tyson being able to overcome the physical advantages combined with his technical ability
That ain’t no opinion that is fact and if you can’t see that then you are biased

Lol but who's right ? Mike Tyson has always been much more popular with casuals because of his fighting style. Its a fact. Mike Tyson is actually arguably the most popular boxer of all time, maybe behind Muhammad Ali, maybe Mayweather.

I’ll take the only man to unify the heavyweight belts twice and the last to do it in the ring.. Iron Mike in 4..

I would bet a lot of money that Lewis would beat Tyson prime for prime, he was just better all round
