This would be an easy one for Floyd tbh, minus the concrete handwraps. Mosley and Pacquiao took away Margarito's aura and exposed him for what he really is. Margarito could only fight going forward at midrange - Floyd would have beat him up/potshotted him on the inside for 12 rds and got a comfortable UD.
Half the guys in this thread would be in here crying about Floyd running for 12 rounds to a decision. We all know how this goes guys....
LOL He did & he knew he did but as usual his "friendly" judges made sure he kept his bogus 0 Watch the fight If they show the interview after the fight you'll see the little wimp
My question to you guys who say Margarito would have been an easy fight for him then " Why didnt he fight him & pick up that easy $8mil ? Margarito was #1 contender & would have grossed far more than either of those losers Baldy & Judah. This was at the height of his naming himself "Money" Mayweather he claimed he wasnt interested in titles just $$$$$$$$. Dont use that ludicous " Concrete Handwraps" Bull Feces either Everyone that saw the tapes of Margarito quietly asking Floyd " Why wont you fight me " ?? KNOW why floyd wouldnt fight Tony He was terrified of him blustering & blabbering like Daffy Duck then embarrassing himself in front of everyone LOL Floyd was gifted with the God Given boxing talents of an ATG but sadly cursed with the cojones of a Gnat
correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't margarito do this famous call out right after his cintron win? so he hadn't exactly fought top tier opposition leading up to this point, and only lost to daniel santos a couple of fights earlier. also, he then lost to paul williams 3 fights later, then mosley 4 fights later, then pacquiao and cotto almost straight after that. so in truth margarito lost 1 in 3 fights between santos and the second cotto fight.
and yet floyd fought castillo and maidana anyway either side of the so-called 'margarito duck'. margarito had that infamous call-out after his cintron win. he lost against santos only 2 fights before that, and lost 1 in 3 fights up to and including cotto 2, so it's not like margarito put his name in lights and generated any momentum to earn the fight. i've always said i would have loved to see mayweather fight paul williams at WW, and considering paul beat margarito and had a LOT more momentum than margarito ever had, i'd say there's a much better case for why floyd-williams didn't happen than margarito.
I am not a big Floyd Mayweather fan but for the people who say that Antonio will beat him easily, I have no words for you XD. I am not trying to debate and say that everybody is wrong because that's just ignorant, this is just my opinion. Margarito isn't really a boxer, he likes to slug stuff out and Floyd likes to box and counter people's mistakes. I'll say that it will take time for Antonio to get a couple shots on May, ONLY if he gets into his rhythm and preferred range. Money is one of the hardest people to hit, but he isn't untouchable. This will be a tough fight for Floyd if he isn't in the mega tip-top shape like he was with his other great fights. I don't think anybody is going to get robbed in this fight and even if someone wins who clearly didn't win, we all know who really won. Floyd's achievements are higher than Mag, I'll say Floyd will win by decision but it won't be easy.
Floyd doesn't get enough credit for rematching both Castillo and Maidana but Margarito was a different beast, and as I stated earlier, FLoyd knew that and IMO that's why he stayed away from him. And Yes Williams was another fighter Floyd is accused of ducking for good reason.
Have you seen the Santos fights?? They were blatant home boy jobs First was a N/C then Tech win for Santos both due to bad cuts to Margarito. Santos headbutted like Andre Ward like a Billy Goat. My first time to go to San Juan Puerto Rico for a fight After the Cotto fight was when Tony approached Floyd. Both Floyd & Oscar announced interest in fighting the winner, till after they saw what Tony did to him. Then both rapidly lost interest. The Paul Williams fight was fair enough Paul won a close fight. Tony asked for a rematch but Goosen said " Margarito is in our past not our future" He didnt want to risk it. You cannot count the Mosely debacle as a legitimate win Tony never had a chance from the start
Then WHY did Floyd blatantly duck him ?? Why did he embarrass himself in front of a large crowd by going ballistic when Tony Meekly asked him " Why wont you fight me" LOL Daffy Dack blabbering I'm sure youve seen the videos
