Joe Louis's reign as champion was so dominant that it was dubbed 'The Bum of The Month Club' - as he was far superior to all his opposition. What fighters in modern times after Louis (whether being a champion or not) had a similar time where they were notorious for bum slaying?

Trick answer, Mike Tyson counts as active and he has a great resume for a HW today.

    Massive difference here.

Louis was trying to fight the best opposition available, while Wilder was at the opposite end of the spectrum.

In that sense their reigns are about as different as you can get!

Actually Mike also slayed some bums, Klitschko brothers too. But so far currently Wilder imho is far beyound others! :D Golovkin also has sinned. Canelo also.
IMHO best of best in bum slaying currently is Berlanga. Just imagine - 16 guys, a lot of with sh%tty resumes, just there to be slayed! I am joking, but hope in this year he will get better opposition.

Tommy Hearns and Milt McCrory's welterweight reigns also had that feel.

I wish Wilder defended against all of Joe Louis's defenses. All those light heavyweights. Two with Billy Conn. Tami Mauriello. Al McCoy. Bob Pastor. John Henry Lewis.

Wilder would've had 25 title defenses, too. And the knockouts would've been amazing.

And, if you flip it, Louis would've lost to the same guy Wilder did last February.

For comparisons with Louis to be remotely justified, Wilder would have had to be consistently defending against guys like Whyte, Parker, Povetkin, Usky, and of course he would have had to be the best in the world himself.

I fail to see point this has.

Joe Louis fought a ring top ten ranked fighter no less than 41 times. Wilder? Five.

Louis fought the available to him. Wilder didn't.

GGG and I don't consider Canelo an ATG top 50 middleweight.
