Gonzalez wasn’t seen as a threat at all. It was considered pre-fight that he was overmatched and it was only their amateur rivalry and Gonzalez’s obnoxious personality that generated any interest in the fight at all. Gonzalez hadn’t looked very impressive against some very carefully selected trial horses and bums.

 

I’m not calling Lewis the h2h goat and if you think bowe beats him I wouldn’t argue with you, but your acting as if he isn’t one of the most accomplished heavyweights in history. He was a great fighter and there’s a few greats that got humiliated in their prime, happens at heavyweight

Just because we did not know Ruddocks chin was not the same after Tyson does not improve the win of Lennox, Mercer was ****ing schooled by Grandpa Holmes. His resume is trash just like Bowes has beens and one quality prime fighter as a win. Bowe atleast beat an ATG in his prime in contrast Lewis beat Briggs convincingly? cool. You can say Vitali or Grant or Fat af Tua is his best win but whatever same same. they all pale compared to Riddicks best wins over Holyfield. Lenny beat an Old worn Holy an Old zombie Tyson and got his "respect" just like he wanted.

That is so true, the thing is i just do not think people have actually really looked at Lenny as closely as they should have and it drives m e crazy when people think he would "crush" the likes of Holmes, Ali, Foreman and Tyson like he actually beat someone of that level in his career.

 

I rate him highly H2H but I don't think he just destroys other champs like they are nothing. Someone like Foreman who has thudding one punch KO power and a top notch chin would always be a threat to Lewis. Prime Tyson who was a more aggressive, powerful and elusive version of Mercer would beat him in my book. People talk about Bowe ducking Lewis, what about Lewis refusing to fight Vitali in a rematch? He was ahead on the cards before the stoppage.
