Maybe a lot of people dont agree with me on this but in my opinion Olexander Usyk is the most skilled heavyweight I've seen since top 90s fighters. He's a small heavyweight with a big heart. How do you think he fairs against Joshua and Fury ? How can you see Usyk beating them if at all ?
Only time will tell as he’s only had 2 HW fights. One was against a borderline top 50 opponent and the other was against maybe top 15 in Chisora. We’ll get a better gage once he starts facing top 10 opponents and we shall judge from that point. As it sits now his next opponent is looking like Joyce whom also is outside of the top 10. His career has really stalled out after officially moving up but hopefully he begins to progress in the near future.
I think AJ and Fury beat him. Im not confident he can beat a motivated Ruiz. Would likely favor him against the rest of the division. ... I like Usyk. But am not overly impressed by him. Time will tell.
he had large dudes in WSB semi pro torunament too. Whiterspoon was almost out of retirement stage, yes. Also 37 ? y.o. Chisora is tough opponent, Fury had with him 2 fights, one he won on points, was not capable to stop Chisora. Antother fight he won via stoppage. I will not judge Usyk so harsh just cos he didn't stopped Chisora because if 270 lbs Fury in one fight won Chisora on points, then to mandatory demand from 217 lbs Usyk to achieve stoppage looks too sharp requirement.
If Ruiz will be motivated for example 6 months in row, he seriously might be very big problem for everyone. He is leg lazy unlike Usyk. Sure he beat harder than Usyk and even doesn't have slower hands than Usyk does have. If Ruiz will become motivated for long time, like half year, he might seriously improve and become very dangerous.
If he is smart like he has been so far, he can. He has the most skills, speed and durability of anyone that Joshua has faced. He is awkward and can adapt to any situation. He fights well at any range and often changes the shape of the fight. He's tricky, he should have it in him. He does have a chance against AJ. Fury? I don't know.
He is very durable, for his puny size. I give him that. But it will only be a matter of time before he gets trapped in the corner with a obese behemoth, and given a good hiding, for daring to step up to the heavyweight division.
His boxing craft is excellent. Like povetkin. But even more so than pov he is undersized for the division. He hasn't appeared to be going for the ko in his hw fights so far, but if he has then I have concerns about his power. Against a similar sized guy id favor him against almost anyone, though.
Whoever wants to claim the mantle of best of their era will need to defeat Usyk, because he's in that mix. Great boxers rise to the occasion, and unlike the likes of Parker, I reckon Usyk will. I give him chances against anyone in the division.
I think he needs a few more fights to warm into the division. As he gets more comfortable at the weight we should start to see more dominant performances from him. Joyce is a bit of a concern though. It's a fight I think Usyk should win but it might take a lot out of him, career wise.
He deserves everyone's utmost respect and if you don't like and respect him you're human vermin and I wish eternal misery and woe on you. He's still very good and a threat to all the top boys but as I've been saying for years now he's regressed and isn't as loose, fluid or fast as he used to be (which even Joyce has picked up on) and I think that's partly due to the amount of amateur fights he had but also the amount of trainers he's had (5 in his last 8 fights). I think the Bashir trained Usyk was the best version of him in the pros. Like the one who fought Glowacki for instance who boxed and moved more than the flat-footed one who fought Hunter and Briedis who tucks up behind a tight guard and stands in front of his opponents eating unnecessary punishment. He's way too skillful and gifted to be doing that but in addition to his speed, athleticism, and skill and natural ability he's also been blessed by the boxing gods with a very solid beard indeed (astonishing he's never been down from a head shot amateur and pro given the number of savage punchers and legit bangers he's faced) and he's feisty and ultra competitive and he doesn't lack in the plums department.
