Morrison probably had a harder left hook.

But this kind of power is overrated because Tyson was a better finisher.

Power means nothing if you can't finish.

I don’t believe Morrison hit harder than Tyson.

He might have had a little more power in the left hook than Tyson did. Does it matter ? Not really. Just about every other punch Tyson threw had devastating power including his jab. Morrison was pretty one dimensional and needless to say only a fraction of the fighter that Tyson was

Agreed. Bonecrusher Smith was one of those guys who had a lot of power but also had poor finishing skills. In fact he ended up losing bouts because of it, even after flooring men early in the fight

Morrison gets overlooked a lot today but he was only second to Tyson in terms of combinations at that time.

Yeah Bonecrusher (obviously one of my faves) hit like a Truck but was painfully slow and Robotic at times. Look at how he absolutely Froze a Prime Jose Ribalta with one shot, Jose looked DEAD but Smith couldn’t finish him. Tyson stopped Ribalta and bounced him off the canvas a couple of times but Jose was never like froze from one shot like he was against Smith. If Bonecrusher got you on the ropes and could tee off like he did against Weaver and Bruno you were probably toast. I still wish he’d of let his hands go vs Tyson it’d of been really fun for a few rounds. I’d expect Tyson would’ve stopped him, to much speed and to great a combination puncher.

Morrison might hit harder than Tyson with one punch ...but let’s remember that Mike Tyson at his best was an elite body puncher

with an earlier start and the right surroundings James Smith might have gone further. He had decent size, power and chin. But his skills and mobility were limited due to taking up boxing at a later age.
