Teofimo turns down 4 mil offer from Devin haney claiming he's getting 10 mil to fight Kambosos. Bob Arum comes out and embarrass Teofimo and say he's crazy if he thinks he's getting 10 mil. He goes on to say he's not worth it. He also say that it will be a purse bid. Today it comes out that Teofima is only making 1.25 mil to fight Kambosos. So you tell me Teofimo turns down 4 mil to fight Haney, but accepts 1.25 mil to fight Kambosos? That's a clear duck!!!
Or... and I’m just spit balling here... it’s a business decision like every other supposed “Duck” we keep reading about from those addicted to drama, to hype up a live gate or PPV sales. Boxing’s a business and social media has quickly become the new LinkedIn. They put on mostly inflated or completely fake drama, everyone believes the nonsense and it keeps their name in the boxing websites and on everyone’s mind. Look at it in reverse, you can fight a guy for a million plus, that you can easily beat, then risk a harder fight for extra money since it’s been in the conversation longer. Mike Tyson said it best when he said “These boxers today are businessmen and I was a killer” Teofimo just trying to play king of the paycheck.
Everybody ducking Haney bro. Least reward most challenge. even Javier Fortuna rather fight Ryan G. More winnable fight in their eyes. & rightly so more popular & has shown more flaws.
I laugh every time I am reminded of this. Hearn just pissed away a ridiculous amount of money there. And Vargas himself has also been paid handsomely by Hearn. Man, with the money he spent on that fight, Hearn could have easily stacked card after card with B tier guys in fantastic fights. But nah, give it all to Mikey who clearly isn´t worth it.
Only thing any of these guys are trying to do is build up their social media profile to monetize it. Then they don't gotta fight or even train.
Yep, or maybe Teo is only concerned with the glory of beating “elite” fighters like Kambososis. We will see, when Teo and his scumbag father continue to turn down more bigger money fights to face scrubs and no hopers. The more Teo speaks, the more it seems he’s a punk, talking tough but choosing to avoid the best challenges. I suspect he will move to 140 before he faces Garcia, Haney or Loma in a rematch. We will see.
