These guys were exciting personalities....they were talented alphabet world champions....blessed with courage and charisma...and an entertsining style ....and they were box office .....making magazine covers in a 1980s landscape where only HW"s and MW"s did so.The networks picked them up and made them famous. In the case of the latter 3, Old timers were happy to see " good white guys fighting each other" just like the old days.

Im not saying they were elite far from it.....but these guys made their own little fabulous rivalry of 4 in the 80s........from the early 1980s until the culmination of their series in 1990-1991.....this "fab four"also had retirements and comebacks....back stories

Lets celebrate these guys and discuss their careers

If you had really watched Mancini vs Camacho you would drink until you forgot it...you certainly would not start a thread about it

I liked Greg Haugen but anything describing him as FAB is going way too far.

I’d go with Chacon, Limon, Boza-Edwards, and Navarette. Except Chacon and Navarette never fought.

Well in context if id started a thread about the actual fab four..you could say the same about srl-duran 3.

The actual thread was more celebraring their personalities....rivalries..the attention they bought to the lighter weights.......the wild press conferences.....im not saying every fight was rocky-drago and i wasnt starting the thread because of mancini vs camacho...but i feel the little rivalry was worthy of discussion.

Again in context im talking rivalries, ticketselling, personality.....the 135,000 tickets he sold for his rivalry with chavez despite being a no hoper in that fight......another guy i didnt mention tony lopez.....he was hardly Gene Tunney....but these guys had charisma, got good ratings, drew tickets....had interesting rivalries and they had a certain amount of talent.....paz and camcho the hand and foot speed....mancini guts and the interesting back story about his father.......tony the tiger was boxings biggest womaniser!......all these things sold magazines.....and these guys were on covers.....yes mancini-Camacho wasnt hagler-hearns...but the whole event.....and seeing them fight was interesting for me at the time...........it may be a european outlook thing (lol im a huge sven ottke fan)beleive me in 1989 with only 4 tv channels in our house...these things were gold dust...the american vhs tapes my uncle had sent.

That said i appreciate the feedback from everyone if this thread is a turd lol....i feel like a housewife whose cooked a banquet and the guests spit out the food and tell her she cant cook for shitt!!!

I liked Haugen too, but he was only a little bit above a tough Tijuana taxi driver! ;)

There were probably 100 guys better than Haugen in the 1980s. He was good and he sort of squeezed fights out, but even the Camacho fight was a case of Haugen getting points in other ways than rounds.

Prime Haugen is a bit underrated. He proved himself against Jimmy Paul and had the better of Paz in their two 135 lb title fights though Paz got a hometown dec. in the first encounter.

Camacho was the best of this group but they were competitive with him because he slid from his best form pretty early.

I personally wouldnt want to discuss anything about Pazienza or should I say Paz as that's what he changed his name too. He also stole Hulk Hogans idea of having a dew rag to match all his clothes like that's gonna hide the fact that hes bald. Couldnt stand him then or now. Mr I have to be the center of attention everywhere I go like a kid lol.

Lol i think a lot of people on this thread have missed the point completely and misread the thread and original post.i apologise its on me!!!

Im not talking about the fab 5/6/7/8 when i talked about the other fab 4 .....im not talking about a rivalry to hagler,srl,duran,hearns....im not talking about who were the best 4 lighter weight fighters ......i just coined the term another fab 4 to quantify 4 little guys who made a lot of noise and gave a lot of entertainment.....and fought each other in box office rivalries.......

I will change the thread title to eliminate any confusion;due to my poor clarity
