Absolute rubbish Mark. Bebertiev showed exactly why he is so good against The Nail . A bit like GGG he is relentless , cut's off the ring very well and reigns in punches from all angles. An elite talent like The Nail just couldn't cope. Think you need to watch some of Beb's fights. He is so much more than just power. Ginger Nuts knows he'd have no chance so isn't even talking about this fight. It is a shame Berbertiev hasn't fought much though due to injuries and other bad luck.
Whilst I agree that GGG does have a granite chin, I would place it in the same company as Froch and Calzaghe (who operated at higher weight category). Does anyone seriously think that either Froch or JC would last 12 rounds against a peak Haye, let alone Holyfield? As great as I think their chins are, it's too big an ask. 200lbs is just too much I think the statement has a LOT more merit if it has stopped at 175. Beterbiev, Stevenson and peak Kovalev all still have fight-stopping power so even at 175 i find at hard to be certain. And GGG has never ventured north of 160! There's probably a good list of 20 candidates from under 200 that would have varying chances of sparking GGG (or any other 'granite chinned' fighter from the lower divisions). Would I put any of them at 100% certainty? Probably not, but Holyfield and Haye i'd have at around 90%. Down at LH, then prime Kova, Beterbiev etc I think the percentages come donw a lot, but I'd still be looking at around 50-60% chance of a stoppage.
Those guys are good punchers but C level fighters. They can't take what they give. Fighters like Hagler and McClellan would be able to put it on GGG for as long as it takes.
Reminds me of when some tried to argue that Earnie Shaver´s wasn´t a monstrous puncher because he went the distance with some guys. Well, in all fairness, Earnie was half the boxer he was the puncher. You can have the meanest punch in all of history, but at some point it becomes about skills.
Usyk beat tiny Beterbiev and struggled with him twice. And these days, kids get Grade C for spelling their name correctly
Contradiction there. He doesn't allow himself to be hit clean and has not been in many fight where he has taken a sustained assault from a heavy handed puncher. There's evidence he hasn't been hit clean an awful lot , rolls with shots etc.. There's isn't any evidence he has an a+ granite chin. Defence doesn't = chin.
There’s been plenty of cruiserweights who would have murdered Golovkin. Probably some light heavyweights as well.
He has a great chin but to be perfectly honest he hasn't really fought anyone who can punch worth a damn except Canelo (whose more of a break you down over time puncher and not a 1 punch KO artist) and Lemieux (who sucks honestly, just a big slugger with poor technique and finishing ability). He hasn't really gotten nailed hard except by guys smaller than him who have average power.
Ridiculous thread. Kovalev and Stevenson would knock Golovkin out cold. Just about any LHW could stop Golovkin just because of the size difference. GGG's not even a big MW.
Trinidad would beat him into submission. Only way to beat Tito was fighting defensively. GGG's defense isn't good enough.
