Both were trained under cuz d mato Both were the youngest heavy weight champs Both used similiar style Lets say both had a version of cuz d mato in their corner . Who wins?
Floyd was as tailor made for Tyson as he was for Liston. Tyson was probably faster (but not by much) than the slick Patterson, bigger and more much more powerful. I don’t see one category that has Patterson better than Tyson. Speed, strenght, size and power all go to Tyson who I believe knocks Patterson out as soon as he hits him, much like Sonny.
First off, I love Floyd Patterson. I love his back story, how he beat the odds to become champ. And how he came back to beat Ingo. He later beat most of his demon s and had a happy later life. But... In this match up, he doesn't stand a chance of getting past 1.! Just not happening imo, Tyson too fast and hits too damn hard. And knowing Floyd, he'd try to go toe to toe and show Cus who's the best! Sorry Floyd.
Tyson was not faster than Patterson by any stretch of the imagination (at least for hand speed). Patterson was also a superior boxer. Tyson has virtually every other advantage. As for the thread, Tyson most likely stops Patterson in the 1st. HORRIBLE styles match-up.
Ability wise , Patterson had the skill set to at least last a few rds with prime Tyson. But his mentality, his lack of real confidence against fighters like a Liston, or a Tyson would see him exit with in a rd, no more than two.
I said PROBABLY faster, who knows. Speaking of "Who was the superior boxer between the 2?" , well, As much as i admire Patterson, tyson was the greater fighter.
No Tyson was the most skilled heavyweight of all-time, Cus would have said Tyson was the most complete fighter he ever trained, he was amazing at his peak and his combo`s were amazingly fast.
I wasn't speaking about who was greater. I was referring to who had the superior boxing ability, and that's Patterson by a mile. Not that it'll come into play in this bout.
