They've been saying that for years. UFC always gloms on to one of their overhyped champions and tries to ride them all the way to the bank, and it always fails in the long run. First it was Chuck Liddel, then it was Ronda Rousy, then Connor....now they got NOBODY and they are circling the drain. Meanwhile, boxing has about a half dozen legit superstars: Alvarez, Fury, AJ, Spence, TC, hell even Manny Pacquiao is still running around.... UFC needs to worry about their own sport, which is dying because its full of lame, over privileged athletes
Loma Lopez, Wilder Fury 2, Povetkin Whyte, Davis Santa Cruz and a litany of other top fights. It did pretty well.
I am going to have to disagree. While we got some great nights, it was overall rather uninspiring. I used to look forward to pretty much every weekend, not so much anymore.
Boxing is making a comeback from the dull and boring Klitschko era and the lack luster Mayweather era Boxing still stomps on UFC and any MMA event in terms of revenue and audience for big events
Its not mainstream as much anymore but i kind of like it. There's less casuals while MMA Fans have a ton now because Of Conor and Khabib
Yeah fear of getting taken down prevents mma fighters from doing any real interesting striking it's mostly just trying to set up one big shot. I imagine ppl who have wrestled find the grappling exciting but its zzzz for me
That may be down to your own preferences currently tbh, there's not been a huge change in how boxing has operated for quite a while now. Loads of fights to look forward to all the time, but there's always fights we complain about not happening. 2020 was one of the better years of boxing in recent memory for me.
It depends I like good active wrestling with hand fighting and changes of position and leverage but not lay and pray type of stuff Many fights should get stood up like in boxing when there is a clinch.
Can't always agree on entertainment value. I don't really watch UFC but it can be as entertaining or even more so than boxing.
Dying? Nope. Stale? Yes. Wilder/AJ could and should have had a trilogy by now. AJ/Fury won't happen. The Loma/Haney/Lopez/Tank thing is a joke beyond words. Crawford/Spence won't happen. Crawford/Anyone top level in their prime won't happen. Plant/Benavidez won't happen. The very best fights that could be put on aren't happening. The beauty of the UFC is that most of the top talent is under one banner. The talent that isn't, eventually does come over whilst still in their primes.
