Marciano may have been greater but this is a horrible styles and size match-up for him. Ruddock brutal KO.
Loading up for one big shot isn't the best strategy to beat a relentless solid chinned guy like Rocky. Ruddock too 1 dimensional to try anything else. Unless Ruddock manages to open a really bad cut or land that 1/100 fight ending bomb, he slowly loses the momentum after an exciting first 5 rounds and tires rapidly from all the body attacking. Rocky by UD, possibly drops Ruddock late.
Prior to the Dokes KO, Ruddock was more of a boxer. After that brutal shot though Ruddock became a head hunter. You think Ruddock has a shot if he boxer/punches?
Absolutely, he did have that razor jab that he foolishly abandoned. A 6'3, 82' reach 220+ guy hammering away at Rocky with a sharp jab would be a blood bath. Even if Ruddock didn't cut Rocky, Ruddock would be too powerful and too skilled for Rocky to simply slip past the jab and try to pressure with volume and his usual bulldozing tactics. Ruddock had an amateur win over Lennox Lewis so he clearly knew what he was doing in there. Unfortunately the thread title is Ruddock of the Tyson fights so his ring IQ would be like -100. His lack of a right hand would cost him if he tried to simply load up smashes all night or brawl.
Marciano. A 1950s ruddock is going to be a big guy, but not as big as he was in 90s. I could see this being a fun slugfest though.
I think Marciano’s two fisted attack and unrelenting will is what wins him this fight. But he would certainly take some hard punches along the way and might even visit the canvas once or twice.
