Ok, so I went to Las Vegas in 1980 ( I think ) to see him fight Antourfermo for the title, he was a fairly big underdog, the yanks didnt rate him, good for me, because I bet £500 on him to win, got back £1200 plus my £500, lot of dosh back then, think Roland Dakin give him 13 of 15 , the yanks screamed blue murder, for me he won easy, I knew Vito was a goalkeeper, it was like buying money.
Stayed at Caesars Palace, me and 5 mates went , had a wale of a time, cant repeat on here !! was introduced to Joe Louis, very sad, he was very ill by then, and in a wheel chair, couldn't talk, also shook hands with Joey Maxim.
Minter had a party after on a boat real size ! that was in the foyer of the hotel, floating on water, had my picture with him, told him about my bet, he was made up, I was young free and single then, those were the days, as Mary Hopkin once sang.

Yes Iv met both Minter and Haggler. Alan was a strong 5 10’ maybe even a week 5’11 Marvin on the other hand was a week 5 8’ tops. Seems Haggler was below his listed height and Alan was taller than listed. Check them out in the centre of the ring during the refs instructions there’s about 3 inch difference in height

There was an old message board, can't remember the name and there was a guy who posted named Carl or Karl who said he was a writer. He posted that he was 5'6" and was about the same height as Hagler. That, taken with what barberboy estimates Hagler's height, makes me think Hagler is probably not 5'9".

Very interesting recollections! I thought Minter won clearly, not as emphatically as Dakin did, but he won,I was at the rematch, he dissected Vito.I was also there when Hagler took the crown from Alan.Vito was doing colour commentary for one of the US channels, when things got out of hand someone hit him from behind, he turned around and clocked him.
Minter is listed on Box Rec as 6 foot.

Don't think so matey, I am about 5ft 8in , he was only a little taller than me, funny I have met a few MW in my time, Mark Rowe, Bunny Sterling, Kevin Finnegan, Billy Knight, James Cook, Phil Matthews, and all were smaller than they looked on TV !!
