Firstly, I don't think Spence is better than either of them and I think prime versions of them would beat him or at the very least cause him as many problems as they did to Clenelo. And secondly, those fights were like 7-8 years ago and Clenelo is a different beast. He's bigger, stronger, hitting much harder and just better all round. Even though Kovalev was way past it drunk with a cracked chin the 154 Clenelo isn't beating him nor bullying huge career 168 pounders like Callum Smith around the ring either. And thirdly, there's two sides on that coin. Clenelo is much much better than Shawn Porter and even a prime pre-GGG Brook, let alone the version Spence fought and those are the only two world class natural 147 fighters his own size Spence has fought.
I'm alluding to Campbell's power. He was able to drop Teo with big gloves and headgear on in sparring and in addition to the later himself speaking very highly about things he'd seen Campbell do in the gym many other fighters who've shared a ring with Campbell or seen him up close and personal in the gym have praised his power too as per the two videos I posted earlier in the thread, two of them being Lopez and Loma and I'm sure Garcia feels the same too.
Indefeated is a big part of his marketing campaigns. It’s hilarious how you gloss over the fact that he’s fighting little guys and stiffs. Any decent fighter can be made to look good if his opponents have no chance of winning. At his current natural weight of 135, you can’t get around the fact that he’s fought no one and no legit fighter on the horizon. Garcia fought Campbell and you have the nerve to criticize him because he didn’t plow through him without any problems? Maybe you are just too used to watching mismatches like the ones that occur when fighters face no hopers, like Tank does. Guys like you are a joke. You can’t win the argument because you really have no facts so you make implications that someone has a hidden agenda. I have no agenda and don’t need to defend myself. The facts say it loud and clear. Tank is a protected fighter cherry picking bad opponents to attract half-wits and chumps. By your comments, it looks like his team is doing a great job with their target market. Do you consider LSC and the Ghost of Gamboa legit tests for a top LW? That’s a rhetorical question because any true boxing fan would laugh at the suggestion that those two are legit LWs. When this guy fights an actual 135 pounder, a legit LW, you will have your answer.
I think Showtime Porter is a bit underrated. I know exactly how good Canelo is because I have seen him live at ringside. Don’t want to say to much about Kovalev fight as it was not one of Canelo’s better performance and the truth is my guy Andre Ward took his soul. Smith fight did not surprise me because he is a bit overrated by some especially in Liverpool. Spence took Brook’s soul beating him into submission.
Never heard this sparring story and in my experience sparring in the main are irrelevant because they never tell the full story. Remember Floyd and Paul Spadfora.
He has only had 1 fight at 135. Both are LSC and Gambia are great fighters with world titles at the weight Tank spandex them. Ryan Garcia is not a world champion.
Hopefully we get to see Tank fight a guy his own weight this year. Is it reasonable to expect a “belt holder” in his prime to actually fight a top ranked guy at his own weight? Garcia isn’t a champ but he actually has a top LW scalp on his resume. Can’t say the same for the paper champ, Tank. Unless you count his many Twitter victories. He’s a joke and it’s amazing his fans aren’t demanding legit opponents for him and calling him out for cherry picking for so long.
You accuse him of Twitter victories when Garcia is only a champion on Instagram. Garcia called Tank out even got Mike Tyson to call Tank on his show. Tank accepts the challenge, Leonard Ellerbe gets in touch with Golden Boy and as I predicted Garcia runs off. Only teenage girls are fans of Garcia.
Garcia is the real deal his chin is suspect...the way he overwhelmed LC was world class he has chinks everwhere but he is young and has time.....the issue isnt whether or not he belongs at the top he passed the tests placed before him it is the promoters who hurried a flawed fighter to the top.....he is exciting
Porter is a good fighter albeit nowhere near on Clenelo's level or obviously size either but he should've been coming off a loss to the average Ugas and the only thing separating him and Spence in their fight was the KD. That fight was razor close. There were many factors that combined for Kovalev's decline, the drinking and getting robbed in the first fight being the two biggest IMO, but that being said the 154 pound Clenelo who fought Trout and Lara sure ain't beating even that version of him. Prime Kovalev would've been arrested for legal homicide against Clenelo. Brook was damaged goods when he fought Spence and obviously not at his best for a whole host of reasons but he was doing very well in that fight prior to the vicious head clash in round 8 which shattered his other orbital socket. I'm not a big fan of Smith but he's a huge powerful SMW and he would spark out Spence, Porter and Brook.
