Brutal KO. His corner should've pulled him out before then. Even when this was first announced I had a really weird feeling about this fight because on paper the bigger stronger hard hitting Berchelt should've won given the numerous struggles Valdez has had of late and the amount of times he's been dropped or hurt. Everyone was writing him off and I just thought it might be one of those unexpected upsets where the big underdog who nobody expects to win might pull it off, not that I picked Valdez myself but I just had a strange feeling. Michael Montero was the only one who picked Valdez out of 20 fighters and journalists polled by The Ring Magazine lol

Valdez has come a long way. He looked good early in his career and and he struggled in a number of fights and a lot of people, including me wrote him off in this fight.

Proved me wrong. What a performance.

valdez is the same guy he was when i trained with him at the rock. He doesnt have trouble with punchers. He has trouble with slick boxers........i watched manny robles jr go 30-0 rounds vs him in sparring. shakur and colbert should be favored over valdez if they fight

Congrats to Oscar on a well deserved win.

Incidentally it's too bad will never see that the Berchelt-Loma showdown at 130lbs. I always believed Loma would have dominated the game Mexican, notwithstanding the Berchelt jock-riding of some posters on here.

Alright, I'm off to watch Broner turtle shell his way through another boring 12 rounder, exactly what I need to wind down after this fight lol

Reynoso should get most of the credit for this victory. That guy has his lads hitting they are detonating bombs.

His face, his personality, his fighting style, now his new trainers.... everything about him irritates me.

Goes to show you a 130lb fighter carries the power to spark out a welterweight

Berchelt looked slow and sluggish....I think the same day weighins is the answer for this size differential and the danger of drying out then regaining that much weight...it takes its toll. Valdez is a great example of a fighter fighting at his natural weight and being fit in the ring

I can see Shakur stinking it up en route to a rather boring decision. Valdez would grind Colbert down, however.

Great win for Valdez. Most of us doubted him.

Damn! I’ll have to watch the replay! I was kind of hoping and thinking it was going to be a more competitive match up. I was also rooting for Berchelt. I’m actually even more intrigued now because it didn’t go how I expected!
