I think Marvin was a good finisher that wore opponents down but he didn`t have one punch power, did he hit harder than GGG though?
It's very close, but I'd say GGG probably edges it, though. The difference isn't notable enough for me to say that either was more devastating than the other. Hagler was much better though.
I can’t picture a LW even of Durans level withstanding 12 rounds of hard shots from GGG so I vote GGG
I agree. Also, I know it has nothing to do with the title thread, but in a prospective matchup between the 2, no way anyone gets stopped.
No, Hagler didn't hit harder than GGG. Hagler once said that he's not the single-punch KO artist but he could KO his opponents by using his punching combination.
There is so much more to boxing that hard hitting. GGG definitely hit harder but Marvin was a better overall fighter. He could box, move and go toe to toe when necessary. His battles with Mugabe and Hearns are legendary. Marvin wasn’t perfect but in his prime, no one wins a brutal toe to toe fight with him. He was relentless and had amazing stamina. He just didn’t have the single punch power of GGG but he did so much more and did it in southpaw stance. It’s too bad Toney and Roy Jones weren’t around at the same time. Those guys versus Hagler would have been fun to watch.
