I think we can both agree that Berchelt is an infinitely more impressive scalp than the kid Colbert just stopped.

Additionally I've seen Valdez eat some serious leather, testifying to his solid whiskers. Sorry, I don't see a kid with modest power (Colbert) stopping him.

Still spinning the "Loma swerved Berchelt" nonsense?

Geezus, man. Lomachenko beats the sh*t out of ANY version of Berchelt.

Sadly, you are among a rapidly decreasing number of fans who believe otherwise.

    I hope so.

A move to 130lbs would extend Lomachenko's career and allow him to clean out a division, as I favor him over everyone (Shakur included) at that weight.

You would probably say the same thing about Salido.

For me, this was a disappointing fight. Valdez did what he had to do but, come on, Berchelt looked awful. NO DEFENSE. You could see Valdez' punches coming a mile away yet they connected on Berchelt. I bet Loma would beat Valdez handily. Even though Valdez was never really hit by Berchelt he was holding and acting like he was exhausted at times. I couldn't understand this. Neither of these guys looked very impressive. And, again, I'm not trying to downplay Valdez's win. It was a good one and he stayed composed but Berchelt put up a very weak effort.

How long are you going to draft off that fight? Salido won a highly contentious decision after deliberately coming in over weight and throwing innumerable low blows.

Honestly, man. You sound utterly propostetous with this "Salido spanked that ass" gibberish.

Salido declined a rematch and what would have been a terrific payday, because even he knew he would be on the wrong end of beating.

A pity you refuse to accept what Salido so obviously had when he priced himself out of a rematch.

Salido was a dinosaur when Loma fought him. He was chosen because Team Loma thought Salido would get battered and it would make Loma look great.

I was looking forward to Loma fighting accepting Berchelts challenges but instead he picked up an east easy belt and bounced out.

I always said that I wasn't sure who would win, but Loma leaving SFW without fighting Berchelt was a bad look.

It's obvious the Salido fight was motivation to not make the fight with the younger stronger Berchelt.

Obvious to .....whom, exactly? Other anti-Loma posters with a transparent agenda??

But by all means: continue to advance the theory that Loma moved up in weight and challenged bigger, faster, harder punching fighters in order to avoid a slower, smaller, easy to hit opponent simply because that opponent is Mexican.

    Good luck with that.

I'm a Lomachenko fan bro. I just call it how I see it.

At 146 Berchelt is not smaller. Before last night Berchelt looked like a beast.

Consider this, Lomachenko went life and death against an old ass close to retirement Salido. Are you telling me that there is zero chance that Loma and his team preferred to not fight Berchelt who is a lot younger, faster, and stronger than Salido?

If you're honest with yourself you will admit that it seems like a likely scenario that Loma and his team would opt for other fighters over a fighter that is Salido2.0.

I vanished last night, I apologise, I passed out (in a good way) and today I was sentenced to hard labour in the garden and around the house by my wife.. she's tough but she's fair, I was given parole around 6pm tonight.

Anyway, I got this fight so wrong, I said I liked Valdez but I expected Berchelt to stop him around middle rounds.

Valdez absolutely smashed Berchelt, this is not me making excuses or trying to find reasons but the way Berchelt reacted to being hurt, he just never recovered, it looked like he was weight drained, never really got his legs back and looked somewhat distressed between rounds.

There was some huge money on Valdez AFTER the weigh in, so maybe there was a weight issue but you can't take anything away from Valdez, the finish was so explosive, I actually feared for a Berchelt as he lay there on the canvas unconscious while somebody was rubbing his cheek.

Where was the oxygen? The medical care? Very poor in my opinion but thankfully Berchelt is OK and Valdez moves on.

Not really, never really been impressed with Berchelt and last night justified my misgivings. He was moving around the ring like a Frankenstein monster and an easy target for Valdez's shots. He couldn't miss. That was too many shots for just about any fighter to take. Colbert won't be there for a fourth of the shots that Berchelt took. Colbert is a cerebral fighter and his power is very under rated. He also has a great set of whiskers. Not knocking Valdez because he was golden last night. He fought a close to perfect fight and gets much respect from me, but I think that Colbert would have also knocked the Berchelt that showed up last night out, To be honest, I think the guy that Colbert stopped, Arboleda would have beat Berchelt last night. My only knock on Colbert is that he clowns sometimes and I don't like that but there is no way that Valdez will grind him down or out box him. He would be Valdez's worst nightmare. The only thing that saved him in the Quig fight was his hustle and Quig don't come close to the moves of Colbert. Quig was scorching him. Actually, I think he has a better shot against Shakur Stevenson.

Are we again acting as if Lomachenko didn't adjust to Salido's "bull-in-a-China-shop" low-blowing style as the fight went on, or that the kid hasn't improved since his what--- second professional fight?

Berchelt is smaller than Lopez. Not only is Lopez bigger, he's also stronger, faster, and hits harder.

But if we're to embrace your logic, Lomachenko "swerved" a smaller, slower, easier to hit, softer punching opponent in order to fight bigger, longer (see Campbell), faster (see Linares, Lopez), harder hitting (see Lopez) fighters.

Do you see how ridiculous that sounds??
