Im not saying it is an excuse but think theres early data out there that shows like 25% of people that have had covid have lingering effects long after its gone and would be interested how other fighters like Berchelt have done since coming back?

he did a massive weight cut to be inside the division limit and then balooned 17 lbs overnight, the guy was literally eating as soon as he stepped of the scale. thats what ****ed him plus valdez being a lot more tecnichally sound and smart in the fight.

Yeah i had couple of friends that have had it and 1 who is really fit whos still not back to 100% 4 monthafter having it.
Older people and those with medical conditions are more likely to show the after effects but have heard at least few well known athletes who have had issues

Dont get me wrong im not making the excuse for Berchelt and i picked Valdez to win.
I was more using him since he was best most recent example of fighter coming back from covid

Yeah for sure i got no sympathy for these guys who fight so far out of the natural weight and hope they do something about it soon

I’d imagine if it was at all a concern, he and his team would have recognized it and addressed it before the fight. They had a full camp, felt they were ready and were confident in getting a win.

I would say cutting weight is more the issue rather than post covid deficits.

The body is a damn fine machine, you do not deprive a car engine of essential fuel, oil etc then fill it up with such items at later date and expect perfectly running car, so why do it to a body, well we know why as they think it will be advantageous, however it appears to be negative in Berchrelts case or at least contributed to the loss.

I know a couple of people who'd had Covid but claim that they're still not 100% even after more than 3 months. So based on that the premise here is very plausible.

Same here with knowing people with lasting issues and while as i said im not making the excuse for Berchelt at all as obviously the massive weight cut didnt help but if you combine it with any possible lingering issues and i think it could be something to monitor with Berchelt and others fighters that had covid to see how they look like in future fights

i picked berchelt to win easily, but he gassed so fast and was so lethargic in the ring that ithink the weight shift screwed him up besides valdez handily outboxing him for the most part.
