Dubois ain’t world level dude. He’s a slow pumped up weightlifter with mediocre skills. Doesn’t matter how many guys on this board he could beat in a boxing match. Swollen eyes are an occupational hazard, many are able to handle it. He couldn’t. And why do you put quotations around the word quit? Against the opinion of his corner, the ref and ringside physician who all thought he was good to go, HE decided he couldn’t handle it anymore and took a knee to be counted out as his corner was imploring him to get up. That’s the very definition of quitting. As to the alleged injuries he sustained which his promoter speculated on, Dubois face healed up awfully quick with zero scar tissue for a guy who allegedly broke several bones in his face.
I've never understood that line. It would only be apt if you were going on about how tough you were, what you would do in that situation or if you were claiming to be better than Dubois.... None of which was said. We're on a boxing forum, we discuss the sport and all things pertaining to it. When we criticize or question a fighters level it is of course relative and only in regards to their peers. Which fanboys who use that same tired line must know but are too caught up in the moment and enraged at seeing one of their man crushes criticized.
This. I think Jennings would make a better sparring partner than an opponent for Dubois at this point. If Jennings has anything left he’ll take full advantage of Dubois not moving his head. Dubois literally absorbed everything flush from Joyce and Jennings has a very annoying style that I think would frustrate Dubois.
You use the term 'quit' in a totally derogatory manner, almost like a smear on Dubois reputation and that from this point on Dubois is to be disregarded through a lack of heart. I tend to treat boxers with a bit more respect. Sure, Dubois quit but, I don't bandy it about like I'm some sort of superior being because I can aim that accusation at someone from behind my keyboard. I'm far from a Dubois superfan either and never saw all the hype. I certainly didn't favour him over Joyce. He's a young kid and may come back and prove people wrong. He has the physical attributes for sure and may very well not have the testicular fortitude for the fight game. Having said that, he may have been stung by the criticism and go out on his shield from this point onwards. I disagreed with how you pitched Dubois' quitting, not the fact that he'd decided to quit.
"Body builder", not a DDD fanboy, I bet on Joyce against him as you can look at, but you just come off as insecure when you say stuff like that. He's much smaller than better fighters (relative to height) like Pulev, Rivas, Parker, and he's about the same size as Joshua.
Its really hard to judge what level Dubois is because he went straight from fighting the best Heavyweights Ghana and Japan have to offer, to fighting (in my opinion) a world top 10 HW. He needs to have a couple of rebuilding fights and then go for somebody like Washington, Helenius, Price, Martin. That sort of level. He's still young enough to rebuild properly.
right now? i would say its 50/50 ish... the prime jennings vs Wlad... yea better then the current dubois.
He beat Szpilka when he was decent and undefeated, as well as an undefeated Mike Perez, a not too shot Liakhovich, Andrey Fedosov and Alexander Dimitrenko. Not world class by any means but pretty good all in all.
Jennings is more proven but he doesn't possess Brit-iron mandible like Joseph Joyce does. He got KFTO by Old Man River Ortiz and Oscar Rivers, if DDD were to detonate on that chin of his I think he would be going night night for a third time.
This. "Dubois sucks." In comparison to whom exactly? Just look at what he did with the guys he did beat. Too many "fans" hold boxers up to a ridiculous standard.
