Yes I watched the live broadcast of that one and Servania was very tough and game, gave Valdez everything he could handle, and even dropped him and hurt him a bunch of times too. Really good fight.
Yeah, Teo looked real vulnerable after obliterating Richard Commey. Was Lomachenko tentative in the first half of the Lopez fight? He certainly was. That'll happen, however, when you're fighting a bigger, harder hitting, equally as fast (at least with regard to handspeed) opponent a decade younger than you after perhaps the longest layoff of your boxing career. Again, any impartial observer will recognize your contention that Loma "skipped" Berchelt to fight bigger, taller, faster (see Lopez and Linares), hard hitting opponents for the bullsh*t that it is.
First of all, you need to calm down. Secondly, if you knew the sport like I do, you’d know that Team Loma thought they’d be able to exploit Teo’s slow footwork much like Roy did to Toney. Didn’t work out and their arrogance prevented them from even allowing a rematch clause. Linares was an old, staminaless known quantity who didn’t present the same challenges as Berchelt.

But let me get this straight: According to you--- and you have zero evidence to back this up, by the way---Team Loma opted to a fight a bigger, stronger, faster, harder hitting, decade-younger opponent because he purportedly had "slow footwork" that they believed Loma could exploit, in order to avoid fighting a smaller, slower, easier to hit opponent who is really no faster of foot than Teo??? Is this an example of your "if you knew the sport like I do" boxing acumen??
Loma is faster than Teo, and Loma is prime whereas Teo was perceived as a green “kid.” You’re reaching. It’s not either or, pal. Dude was fighting Crolla, Pedraza, Roman Martinez, Sosa, etc. when he should’ve been fighting Berchelt and maybe Francisco Vargas or Miura in between. But that Salido fight happened, so we know Bob wouldn’t roll the dice on matches like that.
Berchelt was a fringe p4p guy for most people and a clear enough #1 at 130. Valdez's win is significant and certainly edges him near the p4p rankings, but he has to solidify it. This is still the same fighter who has had a number of difficult matches with fringe-level opposition. Many of us thought Adam Lopez was outboxing him before the b.s. stoppage. If Valdez defeats someone like Davis or Lomachenko, who will likely drop down, then his case is significantly stronger.
I find with the current state of boxing with so many of the top guys avoiding each other the p4p lists are meaningless. The only thing that matters are divisional fights and rankings. Valdez just beat the top guy at 130 and looked sensational doing it. Better than just about anything most fighters are doing today in boxing.
You're suggesting he ducked Berchelt. I countered that he elected to fight a bigger, faster, harder- hitting fighter than Berchelt, making the notion that he would duck your guy a little ridiculous. This from the guy who insisted (without any evidence, incidentally) that Loma chose to fight Teo-- a younger, bigger, stronger, faster, harder hitting opponent than Berchelt-- because he and his team believed Teo had "slow footwork," rather than fight a guy who is smaller, older, softer punching and who really isn't any faster of foot than Teo. Gotcha, pal.
