I'm lucky, i understand, to be working form home and getting to have these broadcasts on while they "work", and that not everyone has this gift of time, but if you do, the Tyson-Williams broadcast is really rather wonderful, which surprises. Watched this fight how many times and think of it dismissively?

    Notable for:

    - Footage of Williams sparring with a teenage Tyson.
    - Carl's preaching. "There are two roads, the straight road you took and the hard road I took." Carl comes from a background as tough as Mike's, tougher. Late start, too.
    - Carl's "political" count out, "I'm not even hurt." What did you think about the stoppage?
    - Evander Holyfield's flat-top.
    - Tyson's last quasi-charming interview? Not counting losses in the 00s.

The stoppage was horrible. He was steady on his feet, he seemed lucid. The ref must have seen something that isn't clear on camera about the way Williams was looking but honestly... it was premature.

He wavered for a just a moment when he was getting up; Carl shook his head and in that split second he call it off. I think Williams could have gotten up and he could continued but I don't think the outcome of the fight was effected at all. Tyson would have either finished him off in that round or the very next one.

Yeah, he probably would have been stopped sooner rather than later but I think it should have continued.

At the 28:44 mark where he gets to his feet around the count of seven, the ref said something and Williams closed his eyes and shook his head. Then the ref immediately waves it off.

    Anyone know what was said?

Yeah, the ref asked him how he was feeling and claims that Williams didn't reply.

Williams took a massive left hook followed by a solid headbutt there. He did well to get up at all.

Once he finished his count, he should've pulled a Jack Reiss and taken another 10 seconds to have Carl walk over to that corner, and then walk back over to him ... am I right?

Taps the mic. "Hello, is this thing on? Don't forget to tip your waitresses. Try the veal."

Yeah I had that whole fight with the preflight coverage on an old VHS tape which I recorded live 1989. Long gone now. Donald Trump made a ring appearance during the ring announcements if I recall. I loved listening to Michael Buffer Call out the challenger’s name “ CARL THE TRUTH WILLIAMS”

I don’t know that it was really a head butt or just a clash as Williams was falling. Certainly didn’t look intentional

    Probably not intentional.

I do think, this was a premature stoppage. We all know, Tyson was suffering from mental health issues. Maybe we would've saw more of it had Williams lasted longer. By the way, did anyone notice how Tyson looked like he wanted to walk up to Williams and embrace him before being interrupted by his entourage?
