It might work out good for him at 168 lbs, GGG didnt look physically different vs Rolls though and he weighed in at about 163 lbs.
I'm torn. Golovkin is about the only guy who can bring the dog out in Alvarez, but GGG is a more faded entity and risks being stopped because of it. I would like to see it at 160, however, seeing as that is their best class. Alvarez is likely fighting Saunders, though, so that puts my hope in a Golovkin-Charlo clash for the vacant Middleweight Championship (not just a few alphabet trinkets). That would give GGG the chance to solidify his legacy and obtain a status he was denied in the first fight with Canelo.
Was 2 entertaining bouts, I wouldn't mind seeing it, but one has to wonder how much G has left after looking the way he did against Derevyanchenko. I'm more disappointed G didn't use his time not fighting Canelo agaisnt better comp.
Eh, time for that was early 2019. With the passage of more and more time it becomes less and less plausible for GGG to get his satisfying JMM vs. Pac IV moment of justice. Bird has flown, methinks.
Nah...GGG is past his due by date and unless the bout is in Kazakhstan with three Mongolian judges he can't beat Canelo by decision. Unnecessary fight.
Bingo. Canelo seems focused on unifying the 168 lb belts. GGG should look to fight Plant for the IBF title, while Canelo goes after Saunders for WBO. Winners meet for all the marbles.
This. Canelo might announce the trilogy on Golovkin's 40th birthday. Should be safe to come out from behind the potplants by then.
I think he was trying to get dialed in with his new trainer Banks. You can tell with the Rolls fight that he started out trying new things the first couple rounds then said to hell with it and went back to destruction mode. He struggled with Derevyanchenko who put loads of pressure on him while he was sick and trying new things. In his last fight he looked really comfortable and looked like he had his altered style dialed in, but Derevyanchenko is far better than Szeremeta so it could have been an allusion, but from what i saw GGG looked pretty polished. It would be a hell of a acid test vs the current Canelo. If GGG is that dialed in and uses his jab, it could be another classic, with GGG once again being Canelo's toughest apponent.
Even at this age, GGG is the only guy who can beat Canelo. Other than that, Bivol would probably give Canelo a tough fight.
