    How goes it?
Merciless Mercer who took Lennox all the way,
Up against Norton of his broken jaw clash with Ali??

Well, I actually voted Mercer, cuz I tend to think he's just too rough for Norton, but Mercer was actually easy to beat at times, so I could see Norton giving him a boxing lesson actually.

Cheers William. I get what ur sayin about Ray being to rough for him. And also how he can be easily beaten at times. But I've picked a up for the fight Mercer, one who really threw everything at Lewis and gave him a fright.
Of course it's also the same Kenny that smashed Ali's jaw and got himself a win over the greatest, so not easy picking s for me either lol!.

Norton is clearly the better fighter, but it's true he struggles with powerful and rough fighters. Overall, Mercer in his own career was a lot less "bankable" than Norton was. It could reasonably go either way. Mercer was a rough customer most of the time, but he had his moments. He didn't look so imposing upon losing to Holmes and Holyfield.

No that's true he didn't. Maybe it was a clash of styles against Lewis that had him giving Lennox fits.
In this fight, Mercer whilst not a massive puncher imo, was quite heavy handed, that could be enough to get to Kenny s chin and ko him. Definitely don't see Norton stopping Ray!, but out pointing him definitely a possibility.

Norton in troubles with punchers or fighters with heavy hands ( Foreman, Shavers, Cooney).

Mercer KOes him close the middle imo or even before.

Although I acknowledge that Mercer has a decent chance of stopping Norton, I actually think Ken handles his power and simply outworks Ray to a decision victory.

I agree. However, Holyfield and Holmes were more experienced, more intelligent, and more skillful boxers imo.
I agree with you here as well. Can't see Norton stopping him, but with Mercer, I think the punishment he dished out took several rounds to wear a guy down, which I think would be the case with Kenny. I think a Mercer win would be more decisive than a Norton win.

Norton outboxes the tough, but, one-dimensional Mercer. Mercer was routinely outboxed when he fought at the highest level. Mercer would be lucky to beat the version of Quarry that Norton beat. Prime Quarry toys with Mercer.

I went with Norton by decision. Mercer was a tough guy but his power as a puncher is overrated

How many rounds and is Mercer in the right frame of mind / in shape?

    Under 10, I like Norton.

Norton by Unanimous Decision, better skilled, more resourceful.

Norton. Mercer is just a could punch type fighter at best, something Norton could handle. Overall Kenny gets the better pf him. Kenny UD

Ken Norton would school him. His quickness and defense too much.

Norton. His puncher issue, while real, is grossly overrated to the point where a lot won't give him his due in a fight against any guy who can bang.

    Good fight.
