Quick update, I have made a great deal of progress on this, but it's still probably a few weeks out from being complete. Trying to make a point to watch every fight again, because one thing I've learned over the years is that my memory imprint of a fight isn't always an accurate reflection of what happened. I haven't seen a lot of these fights in years, and I confess, there were a few in the Top 50 I had never watched. But I'm sure glad I have now, which inherently makes this feel like a worthwhile exercise. But it is coming along, and I think the results are damn good. Not the Top 50 I would have had, but I think it covers a wide variety that provides a splendid overall representation of the sport we love.
That’s what it should be. Mash our votes together and you’ll get a great collage of boxing at its best with a lot of variety — shouldn’t all be slugfests nor historically super important or technical masterpieces, but rather a cross-section of what makes so many of us love the sweet science. Looking forward to the final rollout Rummy!
OK It should definitely be AROUND March 1. I think I have 5-6 nights left to properly finish, review, and fact check.
It's finally done. So barring a disaster it should go live in about 50-55 hours. I just need to try and carefully review this a few times to help ensure no mistakes slip through.
Rummy, as always a spectacular job here. Great production and more behind the scenes work than any of us will probably ever know. Excellent. The list itself is pretty disappointing, but that's on the voters. You'd think after all that we have available to us we (especially in the Classic section) could finally evolve out of the primordial ooze known as heavyweight fandom and get a bit beyond that but here we are.
I just finished watching. Great list Rummy. While many of the selections were not surprising, it was a good list. It fairly represented all the divisions and eras for the most part, and encompassed everything great about boxing: epic slugfests, intriguing chess matches, and blistering KOs. And that's coming from someone who personally doesn't agree with several of the fights on the list. Thanks to all who participated and you Rummy for making the video. The editing was very good, and I'm sure the ranking job must have been incredibly tough! When can we see your top 25 @Rumsfeld?
Great work Rummy - just finished watching it. You can see how much time and effort you've put into it in the final product. The commentary and summary of the fights is excellent and clips are perfectly synced with it. Outstanding!
