Do you consider Fury toying with 10 year unbeaten Klitschko one of the best achievements in boxing ?

Fury was so scared that he ducked the rematch

 

I think it was a remarkable achievement.
Ofcourse the fight was as dull as dish-water, but the actual "fight" began way back during the pressers. Fury went to Klitchkos back yard, against all odds, even against every trick in the book being played against him, and managed to completely nulify a man who was the major force in the division for such an extrended period of time.
If we actually stop and think, who in past or present, could pull off the same stunt with Wlad being in the same shape/age/form and with everything else being stacked against them AND THEN make that masterful champ completely gunshy in his own garden... You'd come to a sensible conclussion.
The fight was crap, but the achievement was immense.

 

Winning 11 rounds vs 1 against a dominant champion is impressive

 

It was impressive in the way he completely shut Klitschko down. Nobody had outboxed Klitschko before. Very few people thought it was possible, and to get the decision in Germany just showed how clearly he'd been the better boxer.

It was a dull fight though, and Klitschko was past his prime.

I gave Fury a pass at the time for "stinking the place out" amd horribly low output because this was his fight real top-flight fight, and he was a massive underdog, and I expected him to go on to better things. If he'd made a habit of those types of wins, I'd hate him.
On the one hand, he disappointed further by not fighting at all for 2 1/2 years. On the other hand, his comeback has underlined the potential we saw in him, and he's been in 2 or 3 good fights since he came back.

 

That's not what happened at all.. Please learn how to score fights as objectively as possible

 

I was there live to see Klitschko been taking to school, and Im a Klitschko fan. But other than the twelfth round, where he was trying to pull his pants up 90% of the time, he was in full control and outlanded Klitschko. Wlad was too scared to throw the right hand, was unreal

 

Beating a 39 year old man the way he did it was far from great.

 

It was hit and don't get hit without the actual hitting part.
Wlad's worst performance in the ring since his loss to Sanders, and with that I'm including his Brewser loss too.
Fury was busted for juicing in his previous fight, and ducked the rematch, with strict VADA testing.
Wlad was clearly at the end of his career, he already looked bad against Jennings in the fight before that.

 

It has no relevance at all whether you are a Klitschko fan or whether you were there live (you can see more of landed punches on TV/playback, and replay video). Read my initial post, he did not outland him in every round.. That's just complete pure bias and you're literally focusing on what Fury landed, Klitschko landed as well (altho both landed measly amounts)

 

I've seen better fights between two girls

 

It was a dominating, terrible performance (if there could be such a contradictory thing).

 

Imo this fight was a disgrace to the sport at large and the World Heavyweight Championship in particular, at one time among the most prestigious recognition for achievement in sports on the planet. This fight did that title no favors at all. If I'm not mistaken, these were the two largest men ever to compete for the title. Giants. It should have been a titanic battle. King Kong vs Godzilla. But they left their balls at home that day. They fought not just scared, but terrified. I've seen playground slap-fights where two boys are just messing around that were more courageous.

Both of these guys have earned a measure of respect beyond what they get for just being boxers and getting in the ring for other performances, but neither did themselves proud that day and what's more, damaged the sport.

 

I like Fury and gave him massive credit for pulling off that victory. That said, it was one of the most boring fights in boxing history. I saw it when it first took place and have never watched it again. Have thought about it but it was painful to watch. Never again.

 

Exactly this. I watched the fight. I give Fury credit for the win. But let's not exaggerate what he did.

It's not like he took it to Vlad and beat him down. He flicked his jab, rarely landing it and mostly (successfully) refused to engage.

He then avoided a rematch which is odd.

I'm a bit of a Fury fan but that is hardly the stuff of legends.

 

It was a boring, uneventful, uninspired fight for both guys. Fury did little, but Wlad did less. Fury did what he had to, but it wasn’t pretty.
