Big fight this weekend with Adesanya moving up to 205 to try and become a UFC champ at 2 weights. I'm absolutely shocked at how little respect people are giving Blachowicz as the reigning 205 champ. Many are basically stating that it is a foregone conclusion that Adesanya will comfortably defeat Blachowicz. I don't think so and think it will probably be a close fight and if I have to make a pick would probably lean towards Blachowicz retaining his title. My only worry is that Blachowicz is getting up there in age at 38 yrs old.

Blachowicz has always been a top class fighter at 205 and destroyed Reyes who most thought had just beat Jon Jones. Not too long ago Adesanya was all but finished in the 4th rd of his fight with fat welter Gastelum. I realise that he looked great in finishing Whitakker and Costa but Blachowicz is a different kettle of fish up at 205.

    What are everyone's thoughts ?

The UFC are allowing this to happen because they view Jan as a weak champion who isn't promotable and want to make Adesanya a star. Glover and several other LHWs were totally shafted here. As for the fight itself I think win, lose or draw Jan will fight with much more pride and urgency than Costa did. I can't see him winning barring a fluke if he engages in a long range kickboxing battle with Adesanya. He needs to get inside and make it dirty (like how Costa was supposed to) He can definitely bully Adesanya against the cage and will have a huge advantage should it go to the mat. I don't know. Gut instinct is Adesanya by 2nd-3rd round stoppage after dealing with some difficulty but I hope I'm wrong.

I really like Adesanya but agree with you. Blahowicz will probably have 25-30 lbs on him and that could really count at some point. Also, Adesanya is playing a small margin game with those lean bakcs that he does. Whitaker wasn't far off catching him some real leather and while Blahowics is slower, he also have more height and reach which give Adesanya less room for those lean backs.

I have Adesanya as favourite, but it's definitely a very live fight. Who knows what will happen if Blahowitz gets a hold of him or catches him clean. The size difference is substantial after all.

For Jan to win it will be by TKO or KO, i doubt he can out point Izzy in strikes for a decision.
Jan's kicks aint no joke, he made Reyes ribs look like they were hit with a baseball bat when he landed the body kick.

izzy has the precision and speed to win via head kick KO at any time.

If the latter scenerio happens wouldn't you say it's more likely that Jan submits or TKO him? I don't see this fight lasting the distance whichever way it goes.

Yeah i can see why also but i find him to be breath of fresh air from most fighters who have no petsonality at all and i see Adesanya as more just a confident guy who believes in skills and abilities.
He beat Whitaker easily the 1st time but there was plenty of reasons to think he would perform way better if/when they fight again but i find it bit weird he doesnt want that fight and is more interested in guys like Till who has been beaten few times recently including to Whitaker who imo is the clear top contender and should be next in line, especially if he beats Costa next
