When the final bell rang look at how both fighters reacted,, Ali knew he'd taken an azz whippin and Joe knew he was the one who handed it out.

Ali was also clearly going to win the Holmes fight...but his corner mistakenly stopped the fight. Angelo messed it up.

Frazier fans: Joe was never the same after the punishment he received in FOTC.

Also Frazier fans: It's insane to suggest Joe could have lost the decision in the fight where who took that prime ending punishment.

As someone who's favorite fighter is Frazier, I concur.

I think Ali clearly lost the Shavers fight. Quite a few say Ali was not the same after the that one (Just your Argument reverse).

    1. He's not saying Ali "clearly won", against Frazier, he's saying it's not unfathomable to make a case for Ali as some would like you to believe.

    2. Their are "quite a few" people who DO think that Ali lost to Shavers. Obviously they're in the minority, but they're their.

    No... Not really.

If you think Ali clearly lost the Shavers fight (something Shavers himself disagrees with, by the way) there is absolutely no contradiction with believing Ali took lasting damage in the fight.

Those that believe that Ali won the fight all think it was a very close fight. Never once have I seen anyone be called dead wrong for saying Shavers won it.

Fights that are very gruelling and hard fought are often acknowledged as could have gone either way.

Ah, good subject for a thread by the way.

Muhammad certainly took a battering in his fight with 'The Acorn' But I still score it as an Ali win. By about two rounds.
