I recently watched the Bruno v Tyson documentary which was made with Tyson meeting up with Bruno to talk about old times recently, interesting stuff, Bruno only came back after two years out of the game because he thought Tyson was out of the way and he was really effected after people and fighters calle him an uncle Tom, who has seen this doc on this forum?

I was wholeheartedly disappointed with the documentary. For anyone not familiar with the facts it would leave one to believe that Bruno’s first attempt at becoming a champion was challenging Tyson.

how can you tell the story without mentioning the earlier Witherspoon title fight? Or even the loss to Bonecrusher? Or the breakup with Terry Lawless? Or the one round win over Gerrie Coetzee?

These were key elements. The national public affection for Bruno did not start with the Tyson fights.

It started before Bruno challenged Witherspoon on the twenty anniversary of the 1966 England World Cup victory at Wembley when they made computer games, records and books to coincide with that challenge.

The Tyson side of things was not exactly chronological either. For anyone watching it to learn anything about the order of events it was rather misleading. You could hear Teddy Atlas talking but not an explanation of any part he had played with developing Tyson.

I thought it didn’t tell the real story. the real story is better than this bunch of YouTube clips.

I noticed they left out Franks losses in the 80s also but it wasn't a Frank Bruno career retrospective , it was a documentary about his fights with Mike Tyson and they couldn't have delivered that story any better.

Don't know what you mean about youtube clips. That looked like footage complied from the archives to me. It may exist on youtube but you'd have to look for it
The makers put it all together in a very well made presentation. It was very interesting to see just how popular Frank was when he was active.

Anybody know where it can be watched without Sky? I couldn’t find it on any of the big streaming services.

It was pretty revisionist..though the lovable Bruno is,always good value lets be honest ....the rivalry with tyson was hardly a real rivalry like it was built up....bruno was pretty much an also ran tyson foe in 1989....the rematch was just a paper title thing...still it was nice to see them together at the end....frank bruno is seriously underappreciated in britain in the year 2021

Can we say Bruno was a major part of the Tyson story.?
Not sure about a rivalry, the first fight had a little drama true, but the second had to be fought only cos Frank held the WBC bauble. And that second fight was totally one sided.

It`s sky sports documentary and sky sports is a British TV network, the first Bruno v Tyson bout is iconic to a lot of Brits and made Bruno a superstar in the UK, the second fight came after Bruno took a tour on an open roof bus through the streets as a parade as champ and thousands lined the streets, his popularity in the UK was immense and it was Bruno who invited Tyson to sit down and chat for the end of this doc.

To be honest, I felt it was pretty weak. They made it seem like some kind of La Motta- Robinson or Barrera-Morales rivalry where both fighters are forever linked.

In reality they were two relatively insignificant fights in the annals of heavyweight history. They also had little personal contact during the span of the late 80's and 90's so don't know why they tried to push the narrative that these guys were like kindred spirits. I feel a straight up doc about Bruno would have sufficed

D`Amato and Rooney developed Tyson, Atlas just carried out D`Amato`s peek a boo instructions while Mike was an amateur, Mike improved vastly as a pro working with Rooney and was getting better and better until he fired Rooney, Atlas was just a footnote in Tyson`s develoment as a fighter.

Atlas- He is one I sincerely dislike he reeks of insecurity.
Frank the man was a gentleman and as good as they got, Frank the boxer well he was a step or so below the best of his times, both bouts with Tyson were executions as much as Frank showed valor he did not have the tools for the job in either fight.

The merit of chivalry is as relevant as tea and biscuits in boxing, but in the real world outside the squared circle Bruno was one of the best ever the same can be said of Chris "English" Eubank snr.

Teddy really was a jealous mentally unhinged wannabe gangster who radiates nothing but insecurity.
