Lyle was badly hurt and not fighting back effectively at all. I don't think that fight's stoppage was particularly controversial. Lyle was done. Just me.
I think the 60s Ali would have stopped Kenny in 14. And yes, I am keeping in mind that Kenny was a great foil for boxers.
He was on his feet, in the lead and Ali was close to punching himself out. It was a protest stoppage. There was no rematch
Just watched the stoppage again I think it was legitimate ... He knocked Lyle around from one side of the ring to the other and Lyle threw nothing of significance back and was really getting nailed. If a boxer is no longer able to defend himself and his health is at risk then the referee should stop the fight ... Lyle was getting hit by everything ... He didn't fight back, he barely had his guard up if anything, and he couldn't even clinch Ali ... Reasonable stoppage
Lyle was completely defenseless. Even Vince Voltage, the number 1. Ali detractor on this forum by quite some margin agrees that Lyle was defenseless, and had nothing left.
Subjective. Not in my opinion, I had it tied going into the last round which Norton admits he gave away.
