As someone who loves golovkin and Donaire ....there is some utter ass in this thread...golovkin is a great fighter...he doesn't look anything special but he has an atg jab...great power..iron chin a great boxing iq and closes the ring off better than anyone I've ever seen...did he get overated....perhaps...he has his shortcomings...but he is an elite fighter of his generation..and there is a reason alot of fighters ran away.....was he beatable.. absolutely..I think ward would have done him..does that take away from him...no. Donaire is an absolute head to head nightmare at the lower weights for anyone in history....did he have his flaws..sure ....he absolutely fell in love with his power and neglected some of his boxing skills..he could be outboxed ...he has an iron chin...he was rapid...he has one of the best left hooks I've seen in my lifetime and carried absolute goodnight boboes kind of power...til the rigo fight he'd just won fighter of the year and was definitely in the top 5 p4p at the time.... The man is an absolute gentleman...has a great resume..is hard as **** and never shook a challenge..he just travelled up the weights taking on all comers....even going back down to bantam to give a great talent like Inoue hell at an advanced age...and all while doing 365 drug testing.....I wish there were more fighters like him They were elite ....Donaire over GGG in terms of all time and he would definitely be over GGG if they were peak at same time...pound 4 pound..not that that even matters.
At least half the fighters in The Ring Magazine's P4P top 10 would beat Clenelo's ass if they were the same size as him and when I say same size I don't mean shaped like a stumpy little fat toad that is as wide as it is tall. I mean the same weight. Inoue, Usyk, Crawford, Loma all would for sure.
Same. They are similar counter punchers. Canelo is more explosive of the two and better at close range, and Marquez seems to be able to start his combinations at mid range. and even stay there. But yes, Canelo is way better defensively, and a lot more disciplined.
Is this serious? Clearly when comparing fighters you do it with fighter in the same class or close in class. Canelo and Inoue both top fighters, except one fighter has a much much better resume. If Canelo only fought C and B level boxers he would look like God. And Canelo landed some vicious combos on Golovkin, do you really want me to post those videos?
No. See what happened this morning was that I woke up and got on ESB, then decided that - for a change - I'd say Inoue was better than Canelo in a specific area for shits and giggles. I really get a kick out of things like this. Erm, no you don't. In a situation where you're comparing who's a better fighter in the ring, résumé doesn't come into at all outside of confirming they've both beaten elite fighters. When they both have you look at their skills, their talents, their intangibles. Nothing to do with résumé at all. Furthermore, Canelo's best win is GGG II, which is highly controversial (don't even for one second pretend like it isn't). Donaire > GGG, and a clear decision with a KD is better than a razor thin decision. Canelo's resume is better, I agree. But it's not by leagues and leagues because of the amount of asterisks on it.Donaire, Taguchi, Narvaez, Kono and Rodriguez is an excellent top five wins. Especially for someone with a third of the fights Canelo's had. You may love to think this, but it's just wrong. Canelo has fought countless scrubs in title fights while in his prime and he doesn't look as good as Inoue while beating them. You've clearly missed my point. The standards that Inoue is held to, Canelo doesn't meet. The ones that Canelo's best win meets, Inoue's meets. You can do if it makes you feel good. Inoue threw better.
I thought so because there is no comparison between a master like Canelo, and a good fighter like Inoue. Uhhh, Yes you do. That is where you're wrong. Its such a basic concept I'm not sure you're even being genuine here. Lets take a look at Canelo's last opponent as an example. When Smith was fighting scrubs he looked excellent. Hell, he even looked like a great combination puncher. When he stepped up in level of opposition he didn't look as devastating or as good a combination puncher against Ryder. And when he stepped up against Canelo who is levels above him and Ryder he looked like a C level fighter. SO YES, resume absolutely matters when comparing two fighters ability. I can't believe I even have to explain that. LMAO!! You rate Donaire higher than Golovkin? LOL I don't even know what to say here. Golovkin was the MW champion, undefeated, and a P4P fighter. and besides a razor thin close fight against Jacobs never looked like total ****, never been hurt, and never took any real damage in any of his fights. Canelo's resume is at least a level or two above Inoue. When you fight gifted, intelligent, experienced fighters you're not going to look as impressive than when you fight subpar opposition. Who is Inoues best wins? old battle worn Narvaez, or old battle worn Donaire? Because those other guys you mentioned are barely on Canelo's second tier wins level. Scrubs Canelo has fought: Yildirim- Flawaless win Fielding- Flawless win JCC Jr.- Flawless win Kirkland- Flawless win How much better can you win? Oh you mean Canelo doesn't fight wrecklessly with his chin exposed like Inoue? lol I don't know if you're an Inoue fanboy or just hate Canelo that much but your post is ridiculous. First of this isn't about Inoue, no one is holding Inoue to higher standards, I don't even think Inoue has many if any haters. Secondly YOU ASKED what elite fighters has Canelo landed combinations on, I answered your question with one example, Golovkin, and somehow I missed the point when your question was straight forward? lol Canelo has been against fighters a lot more skilled than Inoue has. Just because he fought a couple guys at Flyweight who had a version of the title doesn't make them great fighters at all. Like I said Narvaez and Donaire are his best wins, and Donaire is beyond past his prime, and the only reason he managed to make a comeback is because his division is weak. Inoue is good, but has some major flaws, that he overcomes with his offense, but none the less, is very flawed while Canelo is a much more precise puncher, with better punch selection.
Donaire had 5 losses when Inoue beat him. And one of those losses was by knockout. GGG was undefeated and had never been even knocked down in his career. Your arguing apples to oranges by saying Inone's win over Donaire was better than Canelo's win(s) over GGG. Because the decision was clearer? Because there was a knockdown? No one's ever knocked GGG down before, he's much harder to knock down than Donaire and it's not even close. Both matches contained a wide variety of scores. One judge had Inoue only winning by a single point over Donaire 114-113, the two other judges had it wider for Inoue. One judge had Canelo winning the first match very wide, the other two had it close. The judges were not in agreement for how "clear" Inoue's win over Doniare was, not when one judge had it even with only the knockdown being the difference. Donaire was also further past his prime vs Inoue than GGG was when he fought Canelo.
I hope this is an attempt at sarcasm rather than you being too dim to recognise it. It's hard to tell with you people. Everything you've just explained can be summed up with: "In a situation where you're comparing who's a better fighter in the ring, résumé doesn't come into at all outside of confirming they've both beaten elite fighters" Just because Canelo has fought better fighters, doesn't make him better. Josh Taylor has fought better fighters than Terence Crawford, but he isn't a better fighter. Yes. As explained in this thread. Who're Canelo's best wins? A war-torn GGG? A shot Kovalev? I've already said Canelo's résumé is better. But Inoue's is far from full of scrubs. At least Inoue beat his old men clearly. No, they're holding Inoue to the standards they think Canelo meets. Standards that are too high, because Canelo doesn't meet them either. You can do that to champions. Like Inoue does. And you can look better while doing it. Like Inoue does. Y'know boxing happens in a ring, right? Now on paper? The point of asking the question was so that somebody replied 'Golovkin', to which I would tell them that Donaire is better. And a clear win over a Donaire, is better than a barely winning in two attempts. The question was simple, because you are all simple. And I'm sure if Inoue faced a level of opposition like Canelo's, he'd have split deicsons and robberies in all of his main fights as well. And the same goes for the stubs at 154 and 168. They're the two worst divisions in boxing Donaire was beyond past prime? No-one who looks that good on fight night is beyond shot. By the logic that GGG is a good win because he was long reigning champ, so is Narvaez. Bantamweight is deeper than any division Canelo has fought bar light-heavyweight, where Canelo was too scared to actually fight the best fighters.
Boxing isn't a numbers game. How many losses would Golovkin have if he faced the level of competition Donaire did while fighting a weight too high for him? Why is GGG's chin so much better? When did he moved up past his best weight and face a puncher like Walters? When did he go the distance while getting painted with power shots a puncher like Rigondeaux? Donaire's chin is awesome. It's a lie to say otherwise. What you've described in your second paragraph is precisely why the officials are routinely laughed at. While there was one judge who had it 114-113 for Inoue, there was another who had it 117-109. You do the maths, it's a clear win. Now, the very fact that you're bringing up an offical card from a fight Canelo didn't even win in an attempt to argue that Canelo won the fight clearly is embarrassing. Donaire was past his best, sure. But why was he further past his best? He looked more impressive than GGG did in the rematch. He was the champion, too.
I stopped reading at war torn Golovkin.. With all due respect, you are delusional. Golovkin stats when Canelo first fought him: Rounds fought: 182 Years as pro: 11 Fights: 37 Losses: 0 Age: 35 Donaire stats when Inoue fought him: Rounds fought: 289 Years pro: 19 Fights:45 Losses: 5 (1KO) Age: 37
All those fights would be close and all those guys would miss more punches v Canelo than any other fighters they have fought.
Nonito was a great fighter, but he was far more shopworn by the time he fought Inoue than GGG was when he fought Canelo. Those stats make that crystal clear. I hope that George comes to his senses.
Lmao Donaire was shot to hell and already knocked out cold when he faced Inoue, If that's the case than Mosley >Donaire
