They are more similar than dissimilar! Not saying anything against Holyfield here, but Bowe is just the man who bat Evander Holyfield!
If you consistently fight he best, then you are going to struggle, even in a weak era. So yes, ye had issues with lesser fighters than Bower and Holyfield, as has every single fighter in history!
I don’t think I’ve been anything less then decently mannered, I’ve called him delusional give it a rest. I’m not the Virgin Mary I’m allowed to get flustered.
Im going to withdraw I think I’m becoming a touch bit too flustered- I don’t think we are going to come to an agreement.
You have no doubt made really good points, I’ve laid down my argument and you yours but I don’t think either of us will budge. Truth be told this was a really fun discussion! You happened to also put two of my coffees to a cold grave...
It wasn't the 1st one, but still plenty of action. I've never scored it for Holy. Though I disagree with Bowe on most things, I don't think he ever really lost to Holyfield off-paper. Certainly not decisively. But that's just my opinion.
I agree that the Holyfield might be too big but I give Moore a really good chance. Especially against the Holyfield who fought at 190. Holyfield had really big issues with Qawi there IMO - I had Holy winning, but only by one point - and some of the things which Qawi did can absolutely be replicated by Archie. Qawi's jab-and-roll inside game was amazing and it really troubled Holyfield. Archie can do something similar, IMO. He also had a better, longer jab. Qawi's inside game and shortness gave Holyfield plenty of issues up-close too, and I think Moore would exploit that. Moore once said about Charles that the way to beat him was to break his rhythm. He liked to count the ticks, punch hard in between them and duck under on them. It's how he did so well in their second fight. Holyfield fought almost to a metronome beat, and wasn't half as hard as Charles to land on. I think Moore would employ a similar strategy, and jab his way inside, while ducking under. He'd time Holyfield in a way that when Moore throws a combination, they'd land in-between the beats of Holyfield's rhythm. Moore didn't like it when Marciano enforced a pace on him. He also didn't like the dirtiness of Marciano's style, nor the way he could out-muscle him. Holyfield could do all those things. And Holyfield could effectively punch straight. While relying on the cross-guard, Moore's defence against the cross became one of strictly timing. Mistime it by a split second and you can be on "the street of dreams", as he found out vs Durrele, and likely Morrow. I think entirely plausible that Holyfield finds this crack in Moore's armour and lands big early. He'd enforce himself - like you say - and overpower Moore. I do pick Holyfield, but I think Moore is a very live dog.
