Its difficult what to make of it He may well be trying to play mind games, assuming AJ will take his foot off the gas, but from everything I have seen of AJ and his apparent love of being in the gym I cant see that being successful - he will know this too I think though he is messing about and being impatient as much to get the men in suits to hurry up so he can get on with training properly He looks very slim so I doubt he is back on beer and coke Warren seems to think its sorted as does Arum and Hearn so the liklihood is they have the deal nailed down and its down to organising the site. The contracts cant be signed unless you know where its happening as the site fees / staging fees are going to have to replace gates so as to make up the money the boxers are expecting I think (hope) therefore its done but for the site and date - get that sorted and we have a fight to look forward to
This content is protected At 5.14 here Tyson slips up and after talking about drinking beer and not training he says he was sparring yesterday. He’s still training hard and just speaking ****.
There was a few interesting bits in the interview - especially the bits about 'You tell me! Everyone in the building knows more about it than me!" - he sounds really frustrated with the negotiation process. He is obviously still training, he's just messing around.
Poor form if is he's taking the Michael really, with him being the poster boy of mental health issues.
By your logic Rocky Fielding is a big name in the US because of his numbers vs Canelo. Fury is definitely more well known than AJ in the US but he isn’t a mega star. Couldn’t sell a ticket in any of his fights over there excluding Wilder
Fury doesn’t look in bad shape at all there. He’s definitely playing the mind games and he says it himself in the interview, just after the 5.14 point actually.
Watched Joshua v Pulev again the other day. The differences between pre Ruiz and post Ruiz 2 performances are significant. He boxes so well against Pulev. His footwork was much quicker, there was plenty of feints, he worked the jab so well from head to body. Pulev burns a lot of gas just from the feints alone and kept him turning. I know Pulev is old and shot but Joshua has upped his game and improved loads. The most noticeable thing is his speed and movement. I'm guessing that he's found his optimum weight (240) that gives him speed but still retains his punch power.
I agree 100% yet there were still people trying their hardest to find flaws, stating he still had the Ruiz mauling in the back of his mind. He fought a good fight end of f****** story.
Pulev is a stiff European. Joshua fights well against stiff Europeans like Pulev and Povetkin. He'll struggle against Fury's Ali esque movement.
Exactly. If Joshua gets beat by Fury it doesn’t make Joshua a bum, If Fury gets beat by Joshua it doesn’t make Fury a fraud. Both are elite fighters in the current era and both have differing but exceptional skills. Joshua brings far more to the table than Wilder, Fury brings far more than anyone Joshua has been in with. It’s an intriguing fight and hopefully it happens.
I think these videos are a good sign about the prospect of the fight happening actually. If Fury was taking it easy and drinking (like he's saying as a wind up) he'd have no intention of doing 20 minute chats with IFL or attending the fight the other night where he'd inevitably get asked questions. He's clearly a bit frustrated with the negotiation process, but my hunch is that it's near enough agreed and could be announced imminently.
I don't think he looked much different than when he beat Parker. Joshua's always been a good boxer, he took multiple rounds off Povetkin and Wlad prior. Just took a silly risk against a very durable foe in Ruiz, and came in with some health issues before the fight.
