If you don't appreciate this you're a sexist pig. P.s. Matchroom seemed to have brushed courtney's tweets under the carpet (next to barry's copy of the black book)
This content is protected Feel sorry for Rachel Ball here. Also makes me wonder just how bad Povetkin will be against Whyte this month.
Similar to the UFC when they were desperate to put the two attractive blondes in Van Zant and Herrig to fight each other. Can't blame Matchroom, as it obviously makes business/promotional sense to do so. Are these two up there with the likes of Taylor, Harper, Jones and Marshall in terms of talent? Certainly not. However lets not pretend that we haven't seen poor quality fighters not deservedly fight for the title. Martin vs Glazkov, Wilder earning a title shot by beating Gaven, Stiverne vs Arreola are just off the top of my head at HW.
Lol. It’s not like women’s boxing makes money, it’s value is that it saves money cos you can do ‘title fights’ like this on the cheap.
I get what you are saying but even Martin vs Glazkov looks, on paper, like Hearns v Hagler compared to this, I'm pretty sure some of the opponents these two have faced weren't even proper boxers ie. kickboxers just giving it a go. Bridges herself is a bodybuilder who did boxing to keep fit. You could say the same of Joshua but Joshua went to the Olympics, he fought a number of opponents, blasting them all out, before landing a title shot. Bridges has done nothing in the sport, she's here because she wears thongs at weigh ins, has breast implants and has a big social media following.
It’s a poor world title fight, according to boxrec neither are top 10 in the weight class either. Neither have warranted a shot, even in a thin division which is common in women’s boxing (not a criticism, just given the pool of women pro boxers is a lot smaller than men’s their division will be undoubtedly diluted) but yes neither you would think are credible for a title at this stage.
Bang on. I know a few people who have been sucker punched by the virus for months afterwards. This long covid thing is legit...headaches, loss of smell, listlessness for months afterwards. I am concerned that Povetkin is doing a Groves (against Smith) in that he's just trying to get back in the ring for the final payday. Can't blame him for that I suppose.
That's my concern. Then Dillian Whyte will be shoehorned into conversations about fighting Joshua/Wilder/Fury once again. For the record, I'd actually like to see Whyte vs Wilder. But I hated the way Hearn was definitely trying to get Fury in a tough fight to clock a few miles before fighting Joshua.
I also have great sympathy for Rachel Ball, she seems a very decent person. Honestly I'll probably watch this in the same way I'd truthfully rubber neck a car crash. It'll certainly have novelty value. I can't stick Courtney. I know virtually nothing about Bridges, apart from the ahem obvious. I have seen some of Bridges' tweets liked or retweeted by accounts I follow and she seems a decent person too.
After reading the last sentence, I will be closely watching the weigh-in as well. Courtenay sounds like she is getting bust here.
