Bit random to announce it on Monday afternoon with little fanfare.

Interesting to see if internationally it’s on DAZN or it’s on PPV in every market.

Don't forget ESPN. Surely they wont want it to be shown on DAZN all over the world as that stregthens their competition. Having said that what markets outside of the UK would this have enough interest to be a PPV?

I thought I read before that ESPN have rights for Furys fights in America. Outside the US they are gonna have to put up some money to get the fight or somebody else could get it.

Sorry but I can’t help but feel this fight is far from signed and sealed. Hope I’m wrong but I’m genuinely expecting this all to collapse

Have a bad feeling about this, worry greed will cause the fight to fall through.

Yep agreed. Something doesn't feel right.

In theory - could either party stall on the venue and let the 30/28 days or whatever it is just wind down? Or because it's 'signed' is it out of the fighters hands in that respect.

If that's the case - perhaps yesterday's news was to force Fury's side. The media have latched onto it being 'signed' as a headline, so that's what the general public think. The 'location pending' part is all small print to the general population. Any party that appears to renege on that would be seen as 'ducking'.

I'm genuinely surprised people think this fight is not happening.

Fury and AJ will 100% fight each other once this year, you can pretty much bet your house on that!

The reason I am so certain is that financially and strategically both are at the point where the time is right, it's the right fight at the right time and their respective camps know this and want the fight. Both are 30+, and I am pretty sure that neither intend to hang around in the sport for much longer. You will never see a 36 year old AJ or Tyson fighting, not unless it's an exhibition for mega money.

In other words, it's time to cash out, fight twice, make 200 million and prepare for a life outside of boxing. I suppose depending on how the chips fall the winner/loser will both have a sort of 'farewell' fight at some point and perhaps one of them might defend the unified belts once but either way I would be surprised if either of them are fighting past 2023.

According to The Times, it will be (obviously) PPV on both Sky and BT for whatever the price is.

I don't know whether the fight will happen or not but it makes financial sense for everyone concerned.

Apparently they’ve got 30 days to find a site fee with £100mil.

    And there's the catch !

I'm hopeful, but wouldn't be surprised if they fail.

I'm concerned not that the fight won't happen but about the two fight deal which doesn't appear to be a regular rematch option which is normal. With a 2nd fight agreed before the first has even happened makes me very suspicious that the 1st fight will be an overly cautious snoozefest with neither Fury or AJ taking risks or going beyond 2nd gear, if a second fight is already signed why risk taking damage or even getting KO'ed when in 6 months time a second mega sized warehouse of PPV loot is awaiting each man ???

Boring letdown of a 1st fight will be tarted up as a 'fascinating chess match' by Adam Partridge and Johnny The Shill en route to a final showdown - 'This time it's personal' proclaims Tyson.

Not really too much of a worry for me as I won't be paying for it anyway.

    Of course you're right.
I hate the whole concept of a 2-fight deal, for that reason.
I'm trying to pretend that's not what's going to happen, but deep down I suspect it is. It's virtually an invitation for both fighters to take it easy in fight one.

I'm not right, like yourself I strongly suspect that is what will happen but it's not definite, however anyone on here who is planning on buying the PPV a word of caution is needed. Boxing has always been a business it's just over the last 10-15 years those within the sport have become increasingly cynical and greedy to the point were it feels like there are now boardrooms of suits sitting round a table formulating plans to con and fleece the fans which didn't happen in the past.
