Hagler is hands down my favorite middleweight champion and most days of the week, if someone were to ask me to list my favorite fighters of all time to watch, he is in my top 3. Favorite fighters to watch and opinions on who the best fighters are skills and accomplishments-wise are not the same thing, we all know that. Hagler would make both of my lists for those two subjects.
My first inkling of a pro boxing memory is of my grandfather watching the HBO replay of the Hagler vs Leonard fight, which he also dubbed to a VHS and watched from time to time. I also can vaguely remember some of the TV commercials Hagler did in the 80's. I remember those things but wasn't nearly old enough yet to give a damn about them. At that age I probably was thinking what a waste of a good pro wrestling ring.
Anyway, I've some things to share which most of you likely have seen or already have, but maybe some new or younger readers do not yet have, or have not yet seen the videos I am sharing. One of the links that will be at the bottom of this post will be a YouTube playlist of all of the Hagler fights I have uploaded to my channel (this actually ended up being a part of the first link, which is the Hearns fight) Some are, in my opinion rare, some I "made" myself as some of you know I like to do, by replacing different commentary tracks over the one original to the video, such as with one of two I made this morning. I took an 1080p 60FPS version of the live PPV broadcast of Hagler vs Hearns which looks wonderful, and then edited HBO's commentary over the top as hopefully seen below (both versions are in the playlist) as I don't believe there is a quality version of the HBO broadcast. I also did the same with the Tony Sibson fight which was uploaded in 720p by Top Rank two days ago, substituting the HBO commentary with that of the UK broadcast audio. Last, for those in North America, I have provided a link to my personal Google Drive where you can download for yourself a 720p 60FPS version of the Hagler vs Mugabi fight which for years couldn't be seen on YouTube to those in North America due to it being geo location blocked (The first boxing card aired on Showtime which is maybe why they are so protective over it?) While Top Rank recently uploaded that fight and it can now be seen in North America, the version I am sharing has the in between round breaks. While the version I've uploaded to my Google Drive can be seen without downloading it, if you want the 720p 60FPS version you will have to download it, Drive will not show it to you in that quality. There's also a version of the Leonard fight in 1080p HD where I replaced the live PPV broadcast audio provided by Gil Clancy and Tim Ryan for that of a Japanese commentary, which I did as an experiment of sorts to see if anyone thought it was the same fight when you didn't have the commentators telling you Ray was perfect. For real, total side note here but, as people who have read up on this fight know, Hagler and his team made a lot of poor decisions relating to this fight, from before it was signed up through to the actual fight itself. One thing that recently occurred to me though, which I wonder if anyone on Hagler's team gave any thought to, is the fact that both of the versions of the fight that would be seen in America, the live PPV broadcast, and the replay which HBO would air the following week, were going to be commentated upon by Ray Leonard's own co-workers, which isn't a long leap to make to say that these guys were also his friends. He'd worked with all of them many, many times prior to the fight. May be hard to be impartial in those kinds of circumstances? Ok, I am sorry! Please, if you choose to do so, enjoy all of the fights. Hagler was a beast. A beast who fought with a top notch boxing brain. Rest in Peace

Hagler vs Mugabi 720p 60FPS (on my browser this fight isn't embedding to the thread correctly, however when the mouse pointer is inside the square that should be the video I am giving an option in the top right of the square which says "pop out" and clicking this square should take you to the Mugabi fight)

Every one of those fights does not show the true Hagler style. You have to go to 1983 & before to see Hagler at his absolute greatest and see his real boxing style. He was not a search & destroy puncher like in the 3 fights you have.

I am very well aware of that. I don't think you looked at the play list. I couldn't share 19 videos in one post. I see that when I add the link to my play list in the comments I am leaving here, it automatically embeds the Hearns fight, as seen above, the forum is not treating it like a normal web address. If you wish, you can place the period between youtube and com in the link below, then copy paste that into the address bar and it would then take you the actual page of the play list.
There are only a small handful of Hagler's pre champion reign fights known to exist in full. most of those are in the play list. There are also a handful of clips of Hagler fights prior to the Bobby Watts loss, of which I do not have any of.

I think Hagler is one of those who was almost the "full Package" fighter. He beat you up, and he did it with boxing skill or a finesse, but not any kinda fancy finesse or obvious slickness. He beat you up by doing everything right. His prefight attitude would make one think he would maybe come out and do a Tyson blitz but he came out and figured you out then took you apart. When guy tried to go for broke, he'd put em back in their place. He does so really well in the Briscoe fight a few times. Plus, the whole coming up from nothing, working hard to earn his place cause no one was handing him anything. Hagler is just a great story, a study in perseverance etc

I wish more "fans" would get a real feel for Hagler by watching his earlier fights. I'd say pre Roldan, because in that fight , it was clear he was beginning to slip a little when he fought him ( Roldan) .
Hagler in his prime was much more the "boxer puncher " with an emphasis on "boxer" than what most fans saw with Hearns , Mugabi, and Leonard. His countering skills were 2nd to none.

And see that's what annoyed me: Hagler was a pretty smooth boxer in his prime who could switch hit box move and apply pressure.
And people always act like he just brawled all the time.
Like people do the Hopkins vs Hagler match up and they assume Hagler would be coming forward when in fact Hagler could box just as well as Hopkins.

Better. Hopkins would feel like 3 guys were in the ring with him.

He had a fantastic jab, especially in the first half of the 80s.

I’ve usually thought the Sibson fight in 83’ was Hagler at his peak, but I also thought you can go with the 1st Hamsho fight in 81’.

The Cabrera fight in 79 was supposed to be a fantastic performance.
