I noticed she had breast implants. Can't be safe to box with them. Not gonna lie, the plain lass who got covid is less attractive than these 2 but better wife material.
The womens divisions are very shallow, but i feel its like a chicken and egg situation, it will only get more depth and talent once it gets more exposure. Its a simple numbers game, the vast majority of pro boxers come through the grassroots amateur game, go into any amateur gym it will be 99% male. There are a variety of reasons for that, but one will be there are no female role models at the top of the sport for young women to look up to and be inspired by, they are told physical pursuits are not really for them in overt and more subtle ways. I feel like the womens game has got to go through this period however frustrating in order to get better in the future, and it will take time. Womens mma has been through this, and even mma itself. I agree though that this fight being given world title fight status is a bit of a joke and not helpful.
It's surely got to improve over the next few years. Women's MMA has some great fighters and is at an advanced stage to women's boxing but the depth is shallow in that as well. They need to change to 3 minute rounds and use the same gloves as the men for starters.
I prefer shorter rounds, because it is over with quicker. I don't think longer rounds and changing gloves would at all increase the popularity of women's boxing. People are not watching or participating because the rounds are not long enough and I doubt that most people know that women's gloves are different.
I have no idea how the UK's top promoters are allowed to fill up their main televised (and PPV !) shows with women's bouts. It's disgraceful.
That might be the case, but then there's no guarantee that the boxers would be as gung-ho as they normally appear to be whenever I watch (which is not very often, admittedly). They might end up being more cautious and more conservative to save energy.
The problem with this fight is that it is not a reflection of the best in that division. Looking on boxrec Shannon is ranked at 13 whilst Bridge is ranked at 29. This is a promoter (and sell out organisation) whom are pulling strings to push their own agendas and pulling the wool over their viewers eyes trying to convince them that this is a legitimate title fight. Women's boxing does lack depth but there are 7 other more highly ranked fighters with the WBA than Courtenay. Bridge wasn't even ranked and suddenly gets chucked in at 9. So it's 8th vs 9th for a vacant belt and that is so so wrong. If that was happening with the men there would be a serious backlash.
I'm pretty certain these women aren't anywhere near powerful enough to do that kind of damage. Bridges norks should be safe.
It's just an Instagram fight isn't it? It all started with Eddie being involved with those YouTubers. To be fair, we're talking about it on here. Saying how bad it is, admittedly, but it'll likely get loads of attention from elsewhere too. Which isn't right, but Eddie's in it for the filthy lucre not the sport, as we well know.
I'll be ringside for this.. Eddie gave me a little job, apparently I have to throw jelly and oil in to the ring between rounds.
