Hardly lots of people being disrespectful.its a reasonable assumption to make that most would fancy Taylor.taylor could become undisputed in only his 18th fight and he's ran the gauntlet beating very good fighters doing so.Hatton still hadn't fought Jon thaxton in the same amount of fights.just a bit context there, what Taylor is on the verge of doing is unprecedented for ANY British fighter in history.

Taylor is a quality fighter no doubt but let’s see if he stands the test of time before the hyperbole. He has had some good wins, no doubt. But he hasn’t had any elite wins and he is in and around weight classes where there are elite fighters. Would love to see how he fares when he steps up to the next level.

Not denigrating his achievements to date - if he becomes the undisputed champ then that is brilliant but I still think there are levels he needs to climb (I’m not saying Hatton did but Hatton did get in with Pacquiao and Mayweather. I know he hasn’t had nearly the amount of fights Hatton did but fighters do seem to move through the levels far quicker now)

I get your point, but Hatton was only just 22 years old by that point. Josh Taylor is 30 years old. I don't think that Taylor beating an extra 10 or so knock over jobs at the start of his career, literally every month or two like Hatton was doing, is really going to make that much of a difference. It's a process of maturation and I would argue that the experience that comes through age, training, knowledge and quality over quantity is more advantageous than the aforementioned. Hatton was a world champion beating Kostya Tszyu at 25 years old.

We will continue to see more boxers come through earlier (number of bouts), partly because they are not taking as many knock over jobs at the start.

This is such an awful argument. Age is what matters, not number of fights.

Taylor spent a long time in the amatuers, just like Lomachenko.

When Taylor has a win as good as Kostya Tszyu on his record, let me know.

The number of bouts thing is something that most people put out. A lot of people say that about Anthony Joshua and his biggest fan HatmanStrikesBack makes a point of saying that in every video. I really don't see how beating up another 10 Matt Legg's or Raphael Zumbano Love's is that advantageous for someone who is already mature enough physically, mentally and skills wise. People said that Joshua beating Klitschko was more impressive than Fury, partly because he did it in 19 bouts as opposed to Fury's 25 or something. Joshua was older than Fury, though. The fact is, most boxers do not have the opportunity to face a champion in fewer bouts, and are forced to build their record with no other option - that is something that most ignore, the fact that it is often not a strategic thing but an opportunistic thing.

Any decent south paw gives Hatton trouble. Taylor has plenty of qualities to trouble Hatton.
Hattons, stength and punch power are something Taylor probably hasn't felt just yet.

Good fight. Maybe just lean towards Hatton at the moment but only just

Josh schools and smashes Ricky. Taylor is an elite level fighter, Hatton at his best was B- fighter.

I'll wait til Josh is done before I answer...Hatton wasn't an elite of his generation but he was very good and sorta gets looked down on now....prime Hatton was a very good fighter...and no shame in his losses

Would be a great fight. I lean towards Hatton as Taylor loves a fight too much. Taylor is better when he keeps it on the outside to that mid range but his ego would see him leaning against Hatton exchanging shots. If he was disciplined he would get the nod.

Taylor no doubt about it , now.

Never been dropped pro or amateur. The better overall fighter.

Hatton has almost zero chance of beating a southpaw as good as Taylor.
See his fights against Collazo, Eamonn Magee and Manny Pac. He is abysmal against southpaws.

Hatton's very best (before his l shocking lifestyle caught up with him) against orthodox is at least as good as Taylor and he may have stopped Ramirez.
