I dont particularly like Wilder but Carnara has no head movement and is not much more skilled than Wilder himself. Wilder would blast him out like he did Breazeale

Well, this will be very unpopular. :D IMHO, Carnera wins this by Decision.

I think Wilder might literally kill Carnera if the ref doesn't stop it after the inevitable knockdown within the first 2 rounds. The 6'2 wild swinging Baer had him stumbling around like an elephant on ice.

It's arguable that Baer hit harder than Wilder and he wasn't weaker physically either so what's your point? Besides, nobody believes that Baer is only 6'2.

Primo Carnera was the GOAT. He beats Muhammad Ali.

I have eyes. Wilder is arguably a harder hitter than Shavers based on leverage and the devastating effects of his punches. Baer finished his career with a 64% KO ratio and yes I'm aware ko% aren't everything but they do show that quite a few people went the distance with Baer. I know he held back after killing one of his opponents but there is nothing that jumps out on his record to indicate he hits significantly harder than Wilder.

But what difference does it make? This is like asking if you prefer shooting a deer with a heavy machine gun or a grenade launcher. Either way, it's going to get slaughtered. Carnera doesn't make it past 4 rounds even on his best day unless Wilder is out of shape or completely shot. Carnera only hung on for so long against Baer due to a combination of Baer's sloppyness, Carnera's never quit attitude, and the ref allowing the barroom brawl to continue far longer than it should have despite like half a dozen knockdowns and Carnera trailing on the cards. Do you honestly give Carnera much of a chance here? If not, what exactly are we arguing for?

I will start by saying that Carnera is a fart more accomplished heavyweight than Wilder.

By the standards of Carnera's era, Wilder was nothing more than a good contender.

So who would win if they actually fought?

Wilder might well have the right tools to defeat Carnera.

Carnera would probably win every round, for as long as it lasted, but at some point Wilder might land that bomb, and force a TKO.

I never bought into the idea that Wilder's right hand was a death ray, because he built his reputation as a KO artist, largely against B and C grade opposition.

Having said that, you don't need to sell me on his power.

I know power when I am in its presence.

Waiting for Chok and Jackomano to explain in depth why Carnera is all wrong for Wilder. I'm in for a good laugh right now.

Everybody is all wrong for Wilder.

It's just that his power kept bailing him out!

So Carnera has a resume full of knockouts over A grade level opposition?

I'm arguing that losing against Baer doesn't mean that you'd lose against Wilder. Outside of their power, sloppiness and lack of technical skills they are nothing alike.
Then why he went with Joe Louis further?

Joe Louis is Levels above wilder in technical skill obviously but its Wilders monstrous power that would take carnera out quicker. Just like Joshua is levels above Wilder in skill but Wilder still knocked out Breazeale quicker

On paper Carnera absolutely stopped better opposition!

The undisputed heavyweight champion is a good start.

Ernie Schaff, in what amounted to an eliminator.

All this is irrelevant, because we are not selling Carnera on his power.

We are selling him, as a big and technically sound fighter, who got results!
