Yeah, I never rated him until before he started training Okolie. I previously thought he got where he is because of who his father is.

Absolutely hands down. Think that much has been evident for a few years now. Hats off to Okolie.

I hope this dispels the myth that you have to be a boxer to be a trainer:)

Ridiculous. I've probably known about Shane Mcguigan longer than you.

If I could have one complaint on his fighters it would be that their "inside game" isn't up to much.

Although in fairness that's indicitive of 99% of fighters in Europe, so probably a bit unfair to say that.

    Solid trainer and getting better.

There are quite a few excellent trainers in the UK, we really do underestimate our trainers, it's all about opportunities.

The vast majority don't get the opportunity to work with top talent, if they did they would probably do just as good a job.

Shane had amateur fights, sure he won an ulster title of some sorts. However there are good trainers in all categories who never competed at their respective sport.

Like most trainers he gets better with experience.
I thought he was bad when Carl fought lsc2 and was part of the reason he lost that fight but as times gone by he had the opportunity to show us how he's developed fighters the longer they have been with him.
Okolie was a great example last night and even Fowler to a lesser extent. You could see improvement from him last night.
Shane is defo a good trainer and one still reasonably young that he will end up been a great trainer, worthy of been up against any of the big names that come out of usa.
