Certainly an option for briedis. Depends what he wants to do. Looks like he put on a few pounds and is off to Heavyweight. But might be just that he took a little break from boxing after those huge Wins. If theres big money in it for briedis why not. Briedis isnt much bigger than glowacki but has more tools to get close
Fair play to Okolie calling Briedis out and wanting him next and credit to him if thats his next fight. If I was Hearn though I would want Okolie to fight wither Makabu or Goulamirian next rather going straight in with the best guy in divison in Briedis.
As a kind reminder. What gets lost in the fog of controversy quite often is aside from the foul to the foul Pole, Briedis was absolutely dominating him, and the KO was beyond legit. This content is protected
This looks cool for marketing purposes and then eddie might offer sign clauses and little purse for this fight not to happen. It is easy, if he will be offered low pay, fight will not happen. Also if him will not like clauses. Eddie knows that Briedis most likely will not be in CW for long time.
It won't happen. I want it to happen, it should happen, but when everything calms down Hearn will get Okolie a defence or two, say nobody wanted to fight Okolie, everybody was terrified and move up to Heavyweight for huge fights with Dave Allen and David Price on PPV. Breidis would maul Okolie, he would damage him.
The fight should happen as soon as possible because Briedis is already 36 years old and that is why I prefer Okolie and I think he would win...
I think if Okolie is to confirm himself legit, then the Breidis fight is the way to go and it could be coming at just the right time. It likely won't be till mid/late summer by which time Breidis will have been out for some time, piling on weight with one foot in the HW division, at which point, Eddie makes Breidis an offer he can't refuse, at which point we will have a bigger, fresher, younger, hard hitting fighter who's awkward as **** against a past prime, smaller, relatively inactive fighter who likely has is eye on bigger prizes up north. On that basis, I see it as a 50/50 and if in the UK, slightly favour Okolie. Madness I know but I see the cards being too well stacked in Okolies favour.
and old. If Briedis will manage to clinch him then yeah, Okolie will be done. Not likely. Eddie might offer a lot of eddie clauses and peanuts. In no case Briedis might agree to fight for Glowacki purse size peanuts in Eddie backyard. I suspect Saureland too might not be happy with low purses. He get interested in Briedis after fight vs Usyk. Eddie from one point knows that Briedis is old but he is proficient in game exactly most comfortable for Okolie. Clinch and holding. Briedis had been used really a lot by Vitali and Wlad when they were younger than like fight vs A.J etc stuff. Had been considered as very durable and tough specimen. No even any proof that he ever was down vs them. Also Briedis had exp to fight in HW and even becomed avoided fighter: with him from small country not enough money might be generated and high risk/ low revard. I don't think that his prime versions might had beated up Vitali or Wlad but even for them in their pirme fight with Briedis had required high level, diligent and very hard work. WBO had ordered him to do rematch vs Glowacki when knew that he is in contractual obligations vs WBSS and indirectly vs Dorticos. He opted choice to prefer Dorticos rights and WBSS agreement rather than chance to get WBO belt from recently concussed Glowacki. Instead of **** up Dorticos and WBSS. I don't think he value WBO belt or any belts.
I don’t know if It was McGuigan doing a magical work or Glowacki aging very fast in the last couple of years, but Okolie looked like Vitali Klitschko in there. Unless Usyk decides to move back down, I wouldn’t wright Okolie off against anyone. While Briedis would be the favourite, he’s not getting any younger.
Yeah, I really suspect this, his weight in weight was surprisingly low for him. He usually is >197 lbs at weight ins. Ofc he is old but he looks is money hungry and for him boxe is Ali not belts. Trophy he already had get and now $, gameplan and maybe even some respect ( stuff eddie will not willing to prefer gave him ). Maybe. Me doesn't likes Briedis and I do not hate him but for him boxe is Ali not belts or respect in western world. Usyk might be less dangerous in clinch than Briedis for sure. Form prime vs prime main point, Usyk was too fast, too agile for Okolie to beat up. Usyk versions from fights vs Glowacki or Huck, Briedis had beated Okolie up. Later he a bit declined and still managed to do cool fight vs Gassiev, then a bit further decline. If Usyk will rest normally and will appear better recovered, we might see some cool fights with him. IF.
