It's funny I have a cringy memory from the late 90s of getting stuck in a conversation where I kept insisting "amped up" was just a mispronunciation of "ramped up" and just would not let it go.

What do you, amp up appears to be more common (maybe due to song lyrics? I've got "The World Is Yours" stuck in my head now): https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=US&q=Ramp up,Amp up

You're probably not wrong - I got fired from my gig as a receptionist for Aon (risk mitigation, which is as boring as it sounds - most people probably know them best as the sponsors of the Man U soccer team, with the logo prominently displayed on their jerseys) for having hand tattoos. :shakehead:

I had worked there for like a year, too - and one day the CEO walked past the front desk for the umpteen-hundredth time, happened to glance up at me I guess for the first time, wrinkled his nose, went in his office and made a phone call and that was that. I was asked to leave that afternoon.

That's if Ennis even makes it past the Samurai, which is no guarantee whatsoever.

I kind of hope not, because Ortíz vs. Lipinets, ooh mama. Now that's a fight.

Did he, though? Because one judge had it level as of the stoppage, and that's with JCR having scored a knockdown (so that means Jesse Reyes actually saw Hooker winning more of the completed rounds, while another judge had given Hooker two - and tonight he clearly won just a single one and got dominated in the rest).

So if Ortíz gets Bud next and kayos him, not only would he become a world titlist and have the distinction of having a longtime p4p fixture's scalp - but he'd join Beterbiev as the only active (not to mention rare all-time) champ with a perfect 100% kayo record, no?

Jesus, heartless mother****ers. I doubt I could cut it working one day in an environment like that. I'm far more stubborn in my personal life than I am on here, and just as irritable. I'd have gone on an epic Chevy Chase National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation-esque rant and would have to be escorted from the property. And it would have been very detailed, pointed and bitchy.:sisi1

Not really. Most of those rounds were quite competitive, unlike tonight, which Hooker maybe at best had an argument for winning two and that's a stretch. Also, that was his last match at 140, and as you can clearly see, since he was bigger than Bud coming to the ring, he's a natural Welterweight. So he was probably very drained and far more chinny.

And this kid's only 22. God, that is so exciting.

Last time somebody was this good and only 22 was Canelo - and take away Mosley, and Ortíz might have just as good a record now as Canelo did at the same age. (if not perhaps even better)

Golden Boy needs to work on their language education program. You could feel the whole crowd wincing when he was struggling with aprendiendo.

It might take a little bit of the shine off this win that it was Hooker's first time at the weight, the broadcast seemed pretty determined to avoid talking about that.

It wasn't. He blitzed Uriel Pérez via TKO1 in his very last fight before this, at welter. And had about half a dozen fights at welter before that over the years, including versus former featherweight world titlist Cristobal Cruz in 2017.

First marquee fight with a prime ranked guy, you could say - but 147 is familiar waters to Mo.
